Last night showed the EXACT reason I HATE some boxing fans...

There's just too much importance into this undefeated record idea. It's almost impossible to go through an entire carreer, facing every top opponent out there and not lose at least once.
I'd much prefer fighters that have lost a few times, but never backed out of the top challenges or ducked anyone. This are the ones I really respect.
Early retirements and padded records are nothing to be proud of.Comment

Undefeated fighters:
John Duddy
Sergio Mora
Amir Khan
Fighters with one defeat:
Andy Lee
Ricky Hatton
Junior Witter
With the "LMAPOWN" brigade it seems that losses are only important if the fighter is successful and stepping up his game before he loses. For example Ricky Hatton moved up in weight and fought the best guy in the world and was utterly ridiculed for it. If he had suffered a late knockout loss against Pedro Alonso Teran for example it would have meant less to the LMAPOWN brigade, purely because they hadn't heard of the guy at the time. This helps to explain, for example, how Paul Williams is a "lol bum lol" for losing to Quintana while Hopkins is a "legend" despite losing to Clinton Mitchell.Comment

David Haye lost early in his career and everyone wrote him off, look at him now. Fighters improve and come back. Juan Diaz, P. Williams etc. will all be back and better. It's better to have a loss early in your career when you are still developing so you can change bad habits etc.Comment
