I disagree about his timing and rythm in the second fight. Morales was dominating the second the fight with Pac up to the fifth round (I had it 4 rounds to 1). He was fighting beautifully and it was almost a repeat of the first fight. By the 6th round, Pac just turned it up and never let up. He just flat out outfought him. I didn't see any difference in the Morales who fought Pacquiao the first time from the Morales of the second fight.
Signs of decline in Morales appeared to begin as soon as he jumped to 130 for Chavez and Hernandez. But he could have been simply using his experience to change up his game, more calculated, less aggressive but equally effective for preservation purposes.

edit: For the record, I don't think Pac's power was the main reason Morales lost that fight. Clearly a sign of exhaustion but I believe that had Pac not turn up the tempo, Morales would have won by a huge margin.

      Good thread.
when morales turned southpaw and ate that manila ice and shook it even though he was slightly dazed it was priceless.

thats how you fight! i like jmm style its good for longevity but man the balls on Morales lol dude is still my favorite of the mexicans.

Another is his war with injin chi at staples center! thats the fight that got me hooked on boxing I ordered the fight to watch roy jones jr cause my friends were talking bout him and the fight that stood out was the morales vs chi war.

No one is actually claiming that Pacquiao's power knocked Erik out right? Everyone is in agreement that Erik was exhausted, and Pacquiao's punches may have contributed to that, but mostly it was exhaustion.

That being said, that should have happened in the first fight if Erik didn't have something wrong with him.
True, after the 1st fight Morales wasn't the same.

Asking Merchant after the fight if he liked it was pretty funny. Morales clearly beat Pacquiao the first time, that guy had guts.

He was definitely drained, I don't think he was shot. He was shot in the third fight.

You must have forgot that Pacquiao was talking so much **** to Marquez and Mexico leading up to the first Marquez v. Pacquiao fight. And he's talked other **** in the Morales fights though not as much as the first Marquez fight. Lets not make him out to be a saint, cause he's not.

I noticed a huge difference in timing by Morales and there was no! combinations by Morales or the right hand was absent. Too me it was clear Morales wasn't the same, i know people say he was exhuasted and i aggree there too, but it was not the same Morales he was like a little older it seemed. Like an old fighter that can see the opening but when he shoots his shots the other fighter is gone and the opening isn't there anymore. Where as before Morales use to be the type of fighter that would return fire in the fly.

                  I disagree with this wholeheartedly.

There was DRASTIC improvement in Pacquiao's boxing skills from the Marquez I fight to the Morales I fight. Drastic.

Honestly, I can't see much difference between the way Pacquiao boxes now compared to what he did in the first Morales fight.

Are you a Mexican hypocrite or something?

You said Pac will be beat by MAB, JMM and MOrales.

Now that you eat your words you come here like the idiot that you are making excuses and going back on your word?

So now you don't have any sense of dignity e?
