Another problem i see with this matchup is, if it goes to the judges and Pavlik wins, Winky will only cry about getting robbed once again.

I'd like to see Pavlik vs Abraham, but if Pavlik intends to unify the division maybe he should try and persuade Sturm and Abraham to fight each other. At least then there's only one of them that he has to persuade to leave Germany, and whichever one it is brings a bit extra to the table.

I have to disagree with anyone who thinks that it's ok for Pavlik to fight Lockett for any reason other than that he's his mandatory. Pavlik is supposed to be the best in the division, and absolutely no champion is ever entitled to make a voluntary defence against a clearly inferior opponent in my opinion. Frank Warren and the WBO seem to have a 'special relationship', and that is the only reason I can see for him being ranked #1.

I like Pavlik and I hope he makes it his aim to take on the top challengers or the other champions. If for some reason he feels that June is too early to be in a tough fight again then wait a extra month or two. But how winning an easy fight by early KO helps at all is a mystery to me.

i seriously think this would be the worst move pavlik could make. Winkys too experienced and clever for pavlik, he would beat him in a one sided UD. Pavlik has a long career ahead of him and whilst a loss to wink wouldnt be devestating, he might find it quite hard to get back to the title with so many americans in the division.

If i was the angel on pavliks shoulder i would tell him to wait and cash in on the title before taking a fight like that, but pavlik seems to genuinly not care who he fights, and his management could find 4mill pretty hard to turn down, so we'll see

Very good ploy by Winky, now he can say Pavlik ducked him when that isn't the case.

So what. That won't change the judges decision.

              Even though i like winky....

I feel that pavlik is on the right track. They do this all the time in boxing put two people on the same card to set up a match down the road. This way fans of both stars get a look at both fighters and it sort of builds towards the showdown. Im glad most who have posted have completely dismissed the thought of pavlik ducking winky. Im sure when the time is right the fight will be made. Im sure after abraham and pavlik fight on the same card they will look at putting the fight together and with the type of following abraham should have im sure a number above or around 4 mil could be made to pavlik and plus a title would be involved all in all in its pretty nice to have a 4mil offer in your pocket in case nothing can be worked out with abraham.

He should take it after Abraham.

Yes, I agree, that's all there is to it! Just jab and cover up...easy as that. Hence, his total and utter domination and humiliating shut-out of the most feared power puncher of last generation in Trinidad who was coming off his own huge KO of Mayorga.

All it takes to beat Winky is to punch the hell out of his gloves and just beat him down because with power he is easily beatable!

Winky has had enough chances, and in any case isn't in a position to make offers. Arum could set up about anything he wants and get the boy $4mil.

I wouldn't mind seeing Wink back in the picture, but he needs to win a fight first
