It may not matter a whole lot but I think it would have helped him. I think he looked good taking out Joppy, but your right about Mayorga. Maybe Mayorga had a damn good chin at the time, I don't know. After that fight, Mayorga wouldn't ever be the same.

Haye is good but dont get carried away that he will dominate because of punching power. Hayes chins is a lot weaker than a lot of heavyweights so punching power is not where its at. If all you needed to be succesful was punching power then Haye would be the second coming of Tyson!
At this stage Haye is not much different to Herbie Hide. Apart from when Hide was up and coming he didnt lose to a Carl Thompson.
Not trying to take anything away from Haye though. I hope he spanks Wlad. I wouldnt mind seeing Haye against Skelton or some other brit heavyweight to be honest. Rather than going straight for Wlad.

What do you think of that statement????

i would disagree because Haye is already a devastating puncher, and he did fight not too far away from a heavyweight's weight. 200 pounds is still big enough.

but i would like to know what people think about what Holy said. we've seen so many times a fighter moving up and not bring enough power as he's used to carry. and we talking about punchers specifically. if they added weight shouldnt they carry heavier hands, at any weight??

          discuss.

Ive seen Haye at 217lb and he was beyond murderous.

But these yanky wlad lovers wont know that until Wlad gets smashed to bits, i seriously glad Wlad has a chin a waft of air could put to sleep anyone that can take a shot will get busted vs Haye.

As Mormeck said of a 60% Haye: Ive never been hit so hard so often his jab left the right side of my face numb for 2rds. I lost to a great fighter who will become a great champion he will beat Maccarinelli with ease.

            More weight= more powr
            More weight= slower
Depends on how much speed he can keep and how much muscle he puts on.
Technique wise he throws very powerful, but sometimes he is off balance because of that, he can knock some heavies out, thats for sure.

Wlad and Haye measure alright in power but Haye is definitely quicker and smarter. Heavyweight division might be a hard change to make but seems like Haye has fought at heavyweight a few times before and a 225-220 lbs Haye would definitely do some damage in a strugglin division.

I've seen that and the fight against Bonin, too.

The interesting thing about the Wlad fight is, that Wlad lately was a slow starter and started to use his right hand from the second round on or later.
He also is afraid of getting punched.
If he is as afraid against Haye or even more as against Sultan, he will get ktfo.
But I think he won't Haye isn't a southpaw and Wlad will jab much more than against Sultan.

It is too much to explain if you don't diffirentiate between Haye and Tyson's style
believe me, i know everything there's to know about styles, and if you read my post thoroughly you'd see that i wasnt refering to styles. and style doesnt have to be an obstacle in power.

holyfield himself a former light heavy brought enough power to knock down guys like mercer and bowe, and hang in there with lennox lewis for 24 rounds. rid**** bowe was never the same after evander, it's a fact. Holyfiled was never a devastating puncher, but without significant power from a fighter who weighed in as low as 175 he couldnt make those accomplishments. holifield likes to brawl and he wasnt hard to hit, ask michael dokes and bowe. he wasnt a straight forward bull like tyson or marciano, but he did match tyson strength for strength, without being backed up, and holy's power brought tyson down.

I agree with all that. Haye is going to need a good chin to be successful at HW. I don't think putting on muscle strengthens your chin any.
