A fight against Winky Wright might be possible and I'm ready to meet everybody, as long as it will benefit my career.

    Mikkel Kessler

sorry i just can't let it go lol... (taylor won)

btw... miranda generates alot of interest! way more than his rankings would suggest..
unless he's fighting taylor he should fight miranda

and why would taylor fight him when he could fight RJJ and trinidad?

i highly doubt that there's anything in the works for a fight between taylor and kessler...

this would be a big money fight and would draw a huge audience...

if miranda is so far beneath him then why isn't he taking this fight?

That answers itself. No top fighter like Kessler wants to fight an opponent so far beneath him. Kessler wants Winky, Mundine or Bute.

    • Miranda deserves this fight he has been in the ring with Kelly Pavlik, Arthur Abraham, and Allan Green and that is comparable to Kessler's biggest opponents and it would be a great fight for Kessler to turn this down is ridiculous!!!! What if Miranda KO'd Pavlik instead of just knocking him down, then would he be worthy? Don't see how these two are ranked so far apart and obviously Kessler feels he could lose this fight or he would take it for the money and name recognition with HBO or Showtime broadcasting the fight!!!!

Miranda never knocked Kelly down. And nobody thinks Miranda will win. Both times Miranda has been in with a top boxer he's been embarrassed, and Kessler is better than both Pavlik and Abraham by quite a bit.

This would be an interesting matchup, and nothing is guaranteed, but the matchup is also very far from being an even one.

I agree Kessler could use the recognition with the networks. But that's not how these foreign promoters think. They want the belts, so Bute is definitely a preferable opponent for them.

I've seen Braemer to. If he is in the top 10 its at the bottom. But thats politics man. There is a good sanctioning fee waiting from the big german promoter (Sauerland or whatever).
            Ok sorry man.

            • Edison Miranda takes advantage of probably the best public relations team in boxing. They are the people who sent this press release out, so forgive it if it falls short of unbiased. Mike Marley, who handles Mikkel Kessler's PR in America, is no slouch at what he does either, but Miranda's team is highly inflammatory, directed, and effective.

What Kessler's reasoning behind not wanting to fight Miranda is beyond me. I'm not close to the situation, I haven't heard anything outside of this press release on the topic. Perhaps Kessler has something brewing in Denmark, perhaps his team is eyeing a ranking in another organization so Miranda doesn't make sense, or perhaps it's just that Kessler doesn't want to take the risk so close to his first loss.

Do I think Kessler is ducking Miranda? Maybe. Do I believe that this press release tells us enough about the situation to be sure either way? No way. Do I want to see Kessler-Miranda? You bet your ass.

Wasn't Miranda supposed to be fighting Jean Pascal for the WBO title? Why is he even worried about Kessler then?

Nice post with good questions and valid answers.
FYI... The Pascal fight is not officially off, but with HBO and SHO not interested in the fight it is not making much sense. Pascal can thank himself for blowing the opportunity to shine in front of the American audience and stir huge interested in the showdown.
The networks, along with the fans, love the idea of a Miranda fight here in the USA against Kessler. All I can tell you is it seemed the Kessler side initially showed some interest and I beleive their finacials were fair. I am not sure why they decided against the fight, but would love to here some answers. From my knowledge he has nothing else lined up that HBO would take. To me it is a win win. Kessler gets what many consider an 'easy' win and showcase his talent in front of the American audience against a well known name. Miranda gets to prove his loss to Pavlik was a weight issue and that at 168lbs he will be a force. He once again will get great coverage across Europe where many many fans feel in love with him with his efforts and apparent robbery against Abraham.

                This fight makes sense!

                • I remember Miranda landing on Pavlik lots of times with little effect, Pavlik kept coming forward.

One of his best wins was against a weight drained and sick Allan Green. I don't understand why Green risked his unbeaten record by going down to 160 in his state. Even then he managed to knock Miranda down.

                  • This fight makes just about the same amount of sense as Quintana vs Mayweather at the moment.

                    • Mirnada's team has some brass don't they. First off I think Kessler would probably brutally embarass Miranda. But their smart, they know they have to throw everything but the kitchen sink at Kessler to get him to pay attention. I'm sure if a bigger money fight against a more worthy opponent is not possible then Kesler's camp will seriously consider a Miranda fight. It's probably worth paying attention to what Taylor and Bute decide to do before we even think about a Miranda-Kessler fight. I'm sure Miranda's team didn't offer **** to Kessler as far as money goes anyhow. In fact, I would dare to say that there was no offer whatsoever just this weak ass post. Any how it would probably fun to watch Miranda's overrated ass get pounded into oblivion again. Keep padding your record on Friday night fights.
