Pazienza was an aging, former lightweight champion who got the fight with Roy because of a decision win over a fat, 45 year old Roberto Duran. He had no business fighting Roy.

Not that Henry Wharton is a better opponent at all but atleast he was a super middleweight unlike the small, bloated Pazienza.

It's funny how people often see Roy's fight against Pazienza 'RJJ's best performance'.
Sure it was great but just think about who he was fighting against, any super middleweight champion could look good against SMW Paz who didn't even throw any punches.

Eubank - Jones never had a performance as spectacular as Eubank's against Henry Wharton, until Vinny Pazienza, and Eubank may have started favourite

ill take it u dont think Roy Jones performance against Malinga & James Toney was as spectacular as Eubanks against Henry Wharton

Eubanks win over Wharton was at the end of his career he lost to Collins in his next fight , get a grip fella

i just wonder if Roy's China would have held up against Heavy Hitters like Mclelland & Benn who always managed to land at some point.

I don't care how limited or blown-up Wharton and Pazienza were. I've never seen faster jabs and better combinations in a boxing ring than Chris Eubank and Roy Jones showed those nights. Those were sensational performances, you'd have to be a complete idiot to suggest otherwise.

As for Wharton and Pazienza, Henry would have surely powered him out of there. That guy used to punch guys clean through the ropes!

yeah Melly-Mel it is getting really annoying now

Benn would have found it very hard to get to Roy Jones because of his style IMO ,he got to McClellan because he had a perfect style to get to McClellan cause McClellans defence was non existent & he was very straight up & there to be hit ,tall fighters who are straight up always struggle with guys who come over the top with Right Hands or around the side with hooks

Eddie Futch said Stylistically that fight was a nightmare for McClellan to take ,look how bad hs defence was against Julian Jackson he took some monster shots in that fight but McClellan had a great chin to his credit

u missed the point completely LOL

u said "Eubank - Jones never had a performance as spectacular as Eubank's against Henry Wharton, until Vinny Pazienza, and Eubank may have started favourite"

But Jones beat Toney & Malinga in spectacular fashion prior to the Pazienza fight ,which u could say was early in his career where as Eubank beat Wharton at the end of his Career
