If he wasnt.. then Cotto is not a welterweight champion, because cotto only has ONE title and is not the undisputed welterweight champion, and its the same WBA title roy held at HW... He is considered a welterweight champion.. and if he loses, he will be considered a former welterweight champion.

Why dont you call up hbo and tell them you dont agree with there network announcing him as a former heavyweight champion... tell them how there all idiots.

Byrd had previously beaten David Tua and Vitali Klitschko, and after winning the title he defended it 4 times successfully, against Golota and McCline, among others.

Ibragimov is not a bum, he had a very successful amatuer career and won a silver medal in the olympics, only the great Felix Savon kept him from the gold.

The thread starter is making a point that Roy was not THE world heavyweight champ and he's right, he was simply a title holder, like Ibragimov or Maskaev.
