I don't think this is going to be the nail in the coffin for boxing. I mean there was some good PPV numbers last year and the hard core boxing fans will always be there. Gary Shaw is capitilizing off his circus act in Kimbo Slice.

Most americans like to see violence and they don't really care about technical stuff. Which Kimbo provides. Yes he's working with Bas Rutten, but to call what he did in his first two fights with the EliteXC as an actual MMA contest is ridiculous. His first fight was basically a dive job by Cantrell and in his last card with Tank it was called "Street Certified". So basically it was a glorified street fight. I wouldn't be suprised if EliteXC's first card on CBS was a Kimbo fight. We'll see how this works out for them.

Its not that Boxing CANT get a Network TV deal, its that they WONT

HBO pays much much better.

Tarver was gonna make an ABC appearance a little while a go, but dropped out of the fight.

ANd Kelly Pavlik will appear on a major network soon too i hear, that would be great fight boxing if its hyped enough.

But this doesnt harm boxing at all. idk why people think that. Its GREAT for MMA and ELITEXC... but why would it hurt Boxing?

The people that watch UFC are watching it on spike and ordering the ppv's anyways.
Boxing doesnt want a major tv deal, promoters, fighters, arenas, HBO, and the belt orginizations are raking in the millions.
