Don't forget that the president of EliteXC is Gary Shaw, a longtime boxing manager/promoter.

And the stuff about Kimbo is true. If they try to make him their main draw, it will hurt MMA. That would be like boxing getting a network TV deal and then using it to showcase Butterbean. They are both circus acts.

Why don't they do this **** for boxing anymore? Boxing's multple titles (minus the politics) aren't the problem. Multiple weight divisions aren't the problem. It's the not exposure that "kills" boxing.

This is good for the MMA and it's fans but it is not "the nail in the coffin" for boxing at all.

I'm pretty sure they invented boxing. I think that's what he's referring to.

Boxing seems to be doing better in UK the last couple of years, plus Boxing in doing phenomenal in Germany and in the Philippines....

Alot of new fighters are coming from Russia and Ex-Soviet states.

Here's a good article on how boxing in Germany is really doing great things.

I dont think its the nail in the coffin but I DO think boxing should have done it first...and i think boxing should attempt to match them.

MMA is on spike; showtime; FSN; etc.

boxing needs to branch out further than HBO; Showtime; and ESPN...

yeah ESPN...the cards arent that good usually...sometimes we get lucky...this year seems to be some better fights than last year.

Boxing needs to get on either FOX or CBS or NBC or ABC...something...something on broadcast TV would be great.

even if they arent big name fighters...guys with only 7 pro fights or something will still be better exposure than nothing...it should start there and if somehow boxing can catch on to the masses like it did decades ago then PPV (for the most part) goes away because for big fights (like the de la hoya/mayweather rematch) would get hosted on local broadcast and the sponsers could cover the costs.

it would be like the superbowl where companies pay 2 1/2 million and up for 30 second commercials.

                im all for it.

                hope someone catches on.

then we dont have to drop $50 twice a month for good boxing.

Boxing needs to have more title fights on regular tv, and have the commercial money pay the fighters.Boxing is ruining its self by having everything ppv.

That's it, we're ****ed. I'm gathering my resume' as we speak...

Forgive my sarcasm. As a society in general, trends are moving away from violence and more towards symbolic struggles. Basketball, football, these sports pit two teams from rivaling cities in competitions that have all the athleticism but none of the gore. I think the civilization of populations have made this country atleast softer than past generations when Ray Mancini was a household name.

I have a feeling that the graphic violence in MMA will be too much for a general audience and will shock many. Religious factions will boycott, sponsors will fall through. In general, I don't believe Americans are keen on violence. How will people react to fighters getting kneed in the face?

I love boxing and always will, but MMA is barbaric.
