another thing, Elite XC, UFC..these are companies controlled mostly by one promoter or CEO. Of course its easier for them to get deals such as this because they market a product from a single source. There isnt a corporation or company in boxing like that. Unless Oscar De La Hoya makes up some kind of name like "Boxing XL" or some **** where he has his figther just fight each other with big production fights, half naked sluts and fireworks, boxing will not get the same type of opportunity like UFC or Elite XC. Maybe for the better.

Maybe the UK can become the mecca of boxing like it used to be that would be cool having all the big fights over here.

        Boxing isn’t going anywhere.

MMA is exciting to watch and this is a good thing for it, but if anything MMA is replacing Wrestling.

If anything this could be the nail in the coffin for MMA if it fails i.e.

"If the shows get poor ratings, the entire sport will be stigmatized with the idea that it has its cult popularity and is simply cable TV fare. It will be a huge negative perception blow for a sport which, with its phenomenal growth over the past few years, has been written up as the next NASCAR"

This is sad news guys because Boxing should be getting a network deal not MMA.

Especially a guy like Kimbo slice who is just a street guy with no real training.

Thats the thing. To the casual fan, all they want to see is a brawl where someone gets KO'd. Thats why Kimbo is appealing to them. Most casual fans can care less about a 12rnd technical boxing match. Not enough drama in it for them.

It means nothing really. People who watch MMA already do watch MMA. Elite boxing could never be on CBS because they make 10x more money. When Spike put MMA on tv it was a big deal. Now thier is like 3 or 4 channels that do, one more doesnt mean much.

And by "no real training" you mean what? the guy is training with freaking Bas Rutten, a legend in the MMA sport, stop talking nonsense. Use some plain and basic common sense will ya?

Its not that Boxing CANT get a Network TV deal, its that they WONT

                  HBO pays much much better.

Tarver was gonna make an ABC appearance a little while a go, but dropped out of the fight.

ANd Kelly Pavlik will appear on a major network soon too i hear, that would be great fight boxing if its hyped enough.

But this doesnt harm boxing at all. idk why people think that. Its GREAT for MMA and ELITEXC... but why would it hurt Boxing?

the so called best P4P fighter in the world is wrestlin the Big Show instead of defending against the top guys in his division. Floyd is hurting the sport!!
