He ain't white and he aint a he, if you catch my drift...Originally posted by TunneyGunstar and GooGoo are the same poster, in case anyone doesn't already know. He hates all white boxers, and always discredits them after a big win.
What's strange about it is he says he's white himself - if that's true, then it's some kind of a self-hate thing.Comment

My thought exactly. Could it be that he simply felt sorry for Sultan?Generally people are a bit hard on Wladimir, but in the case of his last fight I have to disagree with you. Wladimir DELIBRATELY held back on KO'ing an opponent that he should have KO'd. I mean being cautious is one thing, but once you realize that you're opponent has nothing to offer in return, you should turn it up a bit. He was less cautious against Peter and Brewster who are considerably more dangerous than Sultan imo.Comment

"Win now look impressive next time" Wlad has the title, he will get that KO in his next bout and people will be back on the bandwagon.Comment

to an extent i agree that people may be too hard on wladimir.
wlad's fight with sultan was spectacular or even crowd pleasing like we would expect unification title fights to be.
but the reason im not hard on him about it is because he did what he had to do to win.
if i was a fighter i would think like this:
win first; please crowd second.
not to say fans arent important but i wouldnt want to risk losing a fight because people arent pleased with my gameplan...
why risk losing because the crowd thinks you should do more?
i think he could have done more but he was putting the fight in the bag...why take unneccessary chances when you dont need to?
he'll have plenty of exciting fights with knockouts a brawls but this just wasnt one of those fights.
if it was a PPV i would probably be harder on him.Comment

Agreed. He coulda done the Cha-Cha Slide in there and Ibragimov still wouldnt be able to hit him. But yea entertaining more would definitely help...Sultan made quite a few attempts to take out Vlad. He threw quite a few haymakers in the later rounds. He was also trying not to get his head taken off and it's difficult to get inside on a big guy like Vlad. It would be nice if Vlad was disposing of the competition in more devastating fashion, but I blame the HW division for sucking so much that Vlad can get away with slaping away Ibragimov's jab for half the fight. If Vlad wants more money and fame he'll need to be a little more entertaining but I don't think his abilities should be in question. He could have won that fight with one hand if he really wanted to and it still wouldn't have been close.Comment

sorry, i just had to respond to this post in particular.
first, let's not get into what you call slapping away sulty's jab. it is called chopping fist for a reason. it is used for a reason. wladimir isn't slapping opponents when he punches 'em in the face.
second, for you to state that wladimir doesn't dispose comp in an exciting way implies that you eaither haven't seen more than the last klitschko fight, or your memory is very, very short.
he already makes more than any current heavyweight. and he makes more because he tears opponents down in exciting ways.
maybe you have wladimir mixed up with chris byrd or john ruiz.
and the heavyweight division isn't sucking. it doesn't have a hell of a lot of built up rivalries yet, but it isn't bad.
when you and others think of when heavyweights were "good", part of what you are thinking is in promotion. and yes, i do know what i am talking about.Comment
