Larry Merchant should have been there talking about Louis and interviewing Wlad about Louis and being the heavyweight champ.

It's not the same, but it is what it is.

Yea really. The logic in using Max is questionable.

          Anyway, the documentary was AMAZING.

That old guy at the round table discussion did not answer even 1 of Lampleys questions. lol

Schmeling was not a ****. He had a ***ish manager.

But Hitler invited him to dine with him. What was he supposed to do, turn him down?

I liked the Liston one better.

This Louis was well-done, but it really didn't tell me anything new or unexpected.

It was good, but honestly guys.. haven't we heard this story told before? IMO that documentary was a fancy rehashing of a bunch of other stories on Joe.

In 1938, during the Kristallnacht, Schmeling hid two teenage sons of a ***ish friend in his Berlin hotel room, protecting them from the SS and Gestapo at great risk to himself. The two boys, Henry and Werner Lewin, were eventually smuggled out of Germany with Schmeling's help.
Schmeling wasn't a ****, the guy in the document (who said something like "America helped a **** to become a millionaire but taxed Joe Louis millions of dollars") just wanted to make Schmeling look like one to make it more dramatic.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story.
