so 40-1-34 ko's at the time was a BUM????? ok there guy, even if he fought all those fights in the UK, he still beat them. and actually his first loss to joppy was a robbery and a half, a real **** job.

and what is wrong with cleaning out your division, i don't hear any criticism about calzaghe doing the same thing in a bum ass division, he never fought jones or toney, both were in his division..............

actually Jones wasn`t in his division when Calzaghe was on the world scene, neither was Toney.

Jones was up at LHW fighting bums, and Toney was eatin his way up to heavyweight.

Training for one fight at at time..not a career

Maaaan..I love how you dudes are sleepin' on B-hop, but time & again..he's shown how he reacts to being the underdog in previous fights. No one is better at creating fight plans & executing them to perfection in a fight. The man is as cerebral a pugilist as there has ever been in the game. Dont you think he's aware of the 100 punches/rd (many of which are happy slappy rather than thrown w/ damaging intent). I was convinced of Joe's lack of power after he landed as many punches as he did against lacy and couldnt dispose of him..hell he didnt knock him down until the 11th or 12th rd. As for the Kessler fight, he willed his way to a win moreso than winning it thru a skill set. Im inclined to think Kessler pretty much thought he'd be able to walk calzaghe down thru sheer punching power & youth. There was no real game plan implemented for their bout. That will not be the case w/ hopkins & his team. He'll be working w/ mackey shilstone again (so conditioning will not be a factor in this bout..even at age 44). There's jd jackson who's pretty much a guru in terms of preparing fighters for southpaws (isnt hopkins undefeated against lefty's??). You add nazeem richardson & freddie roach to the mix, and it's easy to see that hopkins might be talkin' greasy but he's taking this fight seriously. My guess is he's going to make this fight rough & ugly..nullify the hand speed by cutting down the distance, and countering effectively whenever joe throws. Mark my words..this will not be a blowout win for Joe C...if he wins at all. Hell, Im taking all bets..**** pts..Im cashin' in on this one here. I take nothing away from calzaghe..he's good fighter, but I want to see how he handles all the intangibles (fighting in the states on the big stage, fighting at a higher wgt class, and most importantly fighting someone who is going to be deadset on making the contest a rough..physical affair (similar to his bout w/ bika..but hopkins is in a totally diff class than bika ever will be)

first off nobody is knocking bernard for dominating his weight class but i'm not going to praise him for dominating a bum ass division either.
kessler is an elite fighter at the super middleweight division delahoya and trinidad are elite welterweights wright an elite junior middleweight.calzaghe has actually fought an elite fighter in his division and won as for hopkins he has lost to his elite middleweights
