castillo/corrales was one and vitali/lewis was one even though lennox did not finish it that was one of the nastiest cuts i've ever seen

I totally agree with this one. It is actually hard to watch that ending, especially knowing its eventual consequences.
Castillo-Corrales 1 was not close to brutal ending. It was a brutal, thrilling exciting fight but no brutal ending. The fight had shadows of Paret-Griffith III when Castillo was out on his feet but was held up by ropes, it was a good stoppage considering since there was no standing 8 count.
My second vote would be for Ruiz-Tua fight. That was truly brutal. Seeing that fight most people would think that Tua just put Ruiz into retirmenet.Last edited by Left2body; 02-21-2008, 02:10 AM.Comment

For gods sake man! Where is your head? Do you actually know any other fights than the ones Mayweather has been in? Not meaning to be a prick but those fights were hardly worthy of mention in a thread titled 'Most violent finishes in history?'!
Hatton wasn't even knocked out. The fight was just stopped which means a TKO, not KO. Same with Gatti. That was just a typical one sided beat down of a completely shot guy who got much worse off of Gomez 'The Contender'. Gatti was given more brutal beat downs in half of his fights. Go and watch some of the aforementioned brutal finishes and maybe you'll come back with a new outlook on what it means to be brutally beaten down.
I would throw in the always mentioned Castillo/Corrales 1 finish just to be the threads cliche post. Painful series of unanswered punches by Corrales though I mention it more because he had just been painfully knocked down twice.
I was going to mention a fight which for the life of me I can't remember. Anyways I will go for Johansson vs Machen. That ****e was nasty with a terrible ref which just made it that much worse. Johansson vs Patterson 1 was also pretty brutal.Comment

Tony Zale vs Rocky Graziano III was brutal.
Graziano looked like he was out the first time he went down but the referee pretty much lifted him back up.
Zale finished the job with a brutal combination of punches that left Graziano out cold on the canvas for minutes.
Robinson knocking Graziano's mouthpiece out was quite brutal too.
Ike Williams destroys Beau Jack
Johansson vs Patterson & Machen were already mentioned.
There is a thread in the Boxing History forum about the most brutal KO's in the history of Boxing.
Some KO vid's in there.
Johansson vs Eddie Machen, maybe the most brutal IMO.
40 year old Sonny Liston's hopes about getting another title shot are destroyed by Leotis Martin (who unfortunately had to retire after this fight).
Liston went down like he was shot dead and he did die shortly after the win over Chuck Wepner.Last edited by TheGreatA; 02-21-2008, 08:06 AM.Comment
