Kimbo will be deystroyed by a real fighter, he has no technique only wings hard shots and it works well vs hobos and fake thugs and bottom barrel MMA fighters.
"Kimbo would **** that white dude, Pavlik up man!"

Kimbo would even beat him in a boxing match too, Kelly is a stand in front of you type of guy, and that will get you killed against a super heavy like Kimbo. Im taking the guy who has 100 pounds over the other guy. Im not basing that on skills, because Kelly obviously is more skilled but only that they are both power guys and one guy weighs 250 plus while the other weighs 160. To even compare these guys in a fight is ridiculous, now let James Toney get in there with Kimbo and we'd see Kimbo out for the count.Comment

Kimbo has the power that can always give him a punchers chance, but to me there hyping him up pretty good and he's not at the level of some elite MMA fighters. Like you said though we'll see in the future.Comment

holy ****.. seriously? That extra 100 pounds means absolutely **** when he's so tired after the first round that he can't lift his arms. I have to believe KP wouldn't just stand there, and get punched.
I can't believe this is even a serious conversation.Comment

People who don't like hockey become quickly bored if the men don't score goals quickly. It's the same with baseball, soccer, etc. If someone doesn't kick a goal almost instantly in soccer I see people getting bored. In America most people like football, basketball- which is very fast paced- and only casually follow the rest. It stands to reason, then, that for most of these casual sports fans they don't care to understand the nuances of the sport, the history of it or the athletes, and only want what they view was excitement- a goal, a home run, or a knockout in boxing. That's how UFC is gaining ground. It's the casual fan's fighting sport. You don't need to understand or care about defense, ring generalship, accuracy- all you have to do it wait for the blood to start and watch someone get knocked out. They see a giant, jacked MMA fighter clip someone and get a quick knock out and they go, "Oh! ****! This is way better than boxing!!"
It'd be like a soccer league where the rules are changed and a goal is scored every few minutes, or a new breed of baseball game where every other hit is a massive home run. Most casual fans wouldn't care if the soccer players were slower, with less endurance, less skill- or if the pitchers in the new baseball league ******- as long as they got their goals and homers they'd be happy. So, in boxing where a KO is something you work for, people are turning to the fighting sport in which they, "See people get ****ed up, man." Skill, history, athleticism- it all goes out the window as long as they get results. Most people, especially Americans, are rather ******.Comment

Totally different sports that do have some overlap in skills. Very few boxers would prevail in elite level MMA without proper groundwork training, they'd win standup and could use existing ring skills to deal with the higher kicks. If it goes to ground, it goes without saying that a well trained MMA fighter with a good JuJuitsu or am wrestling pedigree would choke them out. Likewise MMA guys would be murdered in the boxing ring at elite level.
Quite a few boxers have some thai or kickboxing experience (Benn, Eubank, Skelton) but I am ignorant of whether many have any ground based skills and could not see what use they would bring to pro boxingComment

are u autistic? Pavlik is a middleweight and Kimbo is like 250"Kimbo would knock Pavlik out in like 20 seconds, he cant take that kind of power"
So like I've said on this site before. The majority of the people I talk to and hang out with at times are casual MMA fans. By casual, I mean, these dudes WATCH MMA, but don't really care to learn the history or record of a fighter. They'll pay to watch the UFC fights and watch the free shows on Elite XC, WEC, UFC, Pride, Bodog all that ****. And according to them, they watch it because its exciting and there's KO's in almost every fight. The last boxing the majority of them saw was the De La Hoya/Mayweather fight. Of course, they thought it was boring and they REALLY dislike Mayweather which is why the majority didn't watch or buy Mayweather/Hatton so they don't know that THAT fight was actually exciting (in my opinion).
Anyway, one of my co-workers asked if I was gonna cop the fight and another co-workers overheard and said, "why dont yall buy it at my house, im having a get together for my friend's birthday?". Co worker liked the idea and I figured it could save me $25 bones since he would pay for half of it. But in the back of my mind I was hoping that he wouldn't bring up the "Kimbo/Abbot" fight on Showtime. So I get to my homay's house and theres people there. The TV was off and they had music on and smokin, drinkin and eating. I turn the TV on, get my homay to buy the fight. I watched the first 2 undercards with no sound because everyone was listening to music. Me and my girl were the only ones really IN to the fights, we got to turn up the TV midway the Mijares fight and since it was a good fight, other people were casually watching. Get the Montiel/Castillo fight, the music stops, we watch Castillo get counted out. Here comes Pavlik/Taylor. The other dude who paid for the fight gets there and we get to watch it with no music in the background and half of the party watching and the other half outside in the backyard.
It kind of ****** that they didnt know the history of their first fight because it didnt add to the drama of the rematch. They SEEMED to be entertained even with the pace of the fight. I only heard one dude ask if they could change it and thats cuz I went to the restroom. The fight ended and thats when my homay put it on the "Kimbo/Abbot" fight, he has DVR so he recorded it while we watched the fight. Soon as he put it on there, almost all the guys in the room were like "KIMBO!! HE'S A BAD MUTH****A YALL. THAT DUDES A BEAST MAN LOOK AT HIM". Kimbo gets rid of Abbot quickly and of course someone says, "DAMN KIMBO IS THE REAL DEAL MAN! HE WOULD **** UP THAT WHITE BOY WHO JUST WON THE OTHER FIGHT, WHAT WAS HIS NAME? PAVLIK YEAH"
One other dude had the sense to say that comparing both sports really makes no sense. Other dudes dont understand and think Kimbo could compete in boxing as a heavy weight because of his size and power. I chime in and tell them that muscles arent an indication of talent and ability and that being too muscular and big like Kimbo actually slows and tires you out in 12 rounds of Boxing. Another dude says that with Kimbo, no one would last 3-4 rounds and thats why he wouldn't have to worry about that. I tell them that in all the youtube videos they've seen of Kimbo on the net, he is boxing. Doesnt do any MMA but just boxes. But he decided to go into MMA for some reason. If he could compete in boxing he could make some real $$$, more than in WEC. I asked the dude why he thinks he Kimbo didnt go into boxing, he responded with, "Because he prolly wanted to be a complete fighter". I went outside to the backyard.
c'mon now man use ya headComment
