Pavlik is no world beater, but to call him a hype is ridiculous. Pavlik has beaten everyone placed in front of him. He wasn't at his best because Taylor was better than he was before. If Pavlik fights a crafty guy like Calzaghe or Hopkins, he'd be in some serious doo doo. Fighting guys at his experience level is a much safer bet because there is a very crude element to the better part of what Pavlik does.

Pavlik is a basic fighter. He has a good arsenal to the head with his jab, right, and his hook which he under-uses. Realistically though, he doesn't have many options. He's a strictly pressure fighter who understands that backing a guy up negates most of what a lot of fighters do. Most fighters, save for the versatile types Hopkins and Calzaghe, cannot fight in other directions. A long jab and a high guard can push a fighter back and into an uncomfortable zone.

Taylor is a front foot fighter, when he moves in any other direction he isn't effective. Pavlik was more comfortable with how the fights went, though I feel he lost the rematch.

Hopkins and Calzaghe beat him because Pavlik is a front foot fighter and you can only be so successful fighting that one way. If a fighter can turn Pavlik, he can be outboxed. He doesn't have fast hands and his feet aren't that coordinated either. A slick boxer with decent pop will be his downfall.

Thats until he meets Mr. ''Bad'' Chad Dawson at super middlweight and gets out boxed badly.
