well it has nothing to do with racism. america is about 200 million white ppl compared to 35 million black ppl. So obviously they will be more supportive of the white fighters as a whole. Its just the same with black fighters being supported by black ppl, I doubt very much when a black fighter is in the ring against a white fighter that any black ppl are supporting the white fighter. Its just the way it is, I wouldn't categorize it as racism.
One Thing I Noticed About White Champions

Taylor was not embraced like Pavlik because despite being once undefeated Champion he was viewed as a massive disappointment. His three biggest wins were disputable decisions while he even failed to deliever in his showcase fights against hand picked competition. Pavlik on the other hand is an exciting puncher that knocks people out. Example on the same night: Pavlik won a war against the feared Miranda, Taylor barely got by the irrelevant Spinks in a snoozer. Both guys have fan friendly appeal but Pavlik is simply the more exciting fighter who has thus far delivered big knockouts when given the stage.Comment

well i wanted Talyor to beat Pavlik 1st time around cause i thought Taylor was a superior fighter
fact is colour did'nt even come into my consciousness
Im only picking Pavlik this time cause he has proven to have to much for Taylor in the 1st fight & im betting 10 k on him cause i believe it is a dead cert he is gonna beat jermain again
racism seems to be a big issue in the states ,who cares what ****in colour they are its about entertainment ,if u enjoy watching a white man beating a black man more or vice versa then i suggest u are slightly racist yeahComment

YOUR KKK NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT!!They seem to get more of a stage when they become champ, Im not racist one bit, but I noticed when a white boxer becomes a champ its like America embraces them more and talks about them more and not that they shouldnt, but all should be embraced and talked about as much the same.Comment

After reading this and some of your follow-up thoughts, this is a **** thread.
So you think Pavlik is being given "special" treatment? I would say the guy has proven to be something "special." At least thus far.
Who doesn't want to see someone get in there and **** with guys like Miranda and Taylor, and then talk about it so nonchalantly afterwards?
Pavlik has shown himself to be intelligent, to have a sense of humor and humility about himself to balance out his personal confidence. That is a pretty good combo.
It should also be noted that Bob Arum is a ****ing fantastic promoter. Some people here in the forum might be quick to bad mouth him, but he builds fighters like no one else.
Last but not least...this might hurt a bit homie but you might need to hear it. I don't know what is going to happen in November or even the next few weeks but...we (America) are on the verge of having a black President. That is pretty ****ing cool. Win or even to "lose" at this point means boatloads of white people are voting for the man.
******, backwards, racist white people aside, most white people don't care so much about the skin colour. The real difference that might a problem with some of your favorite boxers (for example) is culture and attitude.
How many dad's sitting around in their living rooms watching their beloved boxing, want to introduce their wife and kids to the guy on the tv after the fight, speaking in broken english, talking like a thug about being da greatest motha ****a eva? Hmm?
Attitude and how you carry yourself is important. While exhibit A might score points with the hip-hop community for acting thuggish and and obscenely arrogant, how many regualr folks ( of all stripes) want to see that ****?Comment

One thing i noticed about the white champions is how diffrent they act to black champions, they are sound down to earth lads who are classy and have dignity. unlike the black champions who act like wannabe gangsters, talk trash and disrepect people, suppose mayby thats why more people love the white champions because they can relate to them.Comment

White people are usually watching baseball, football, golf, tennis, etc from their couches in the suburbs or on the farm somewhere. The wealthy go to polo games in CT. They will catch a Mayweather/DLH type fight because of the hype from commercials, espn anchors, etc. Yet they dont know of local boxing venues, such as the Blue Horizon.
The whites that are loyal to boxing usually come from/live in or near a city and are more lower to middle class. Usually they will follow a local fighter, or maybe a fighter of the same ethnicity. You will rarely see a white boxer from a wealthy suburban background. Arturo Gatti (Jersey City), Micky Ward (Lowell, MA), Kelly Pavlik (Youngstown), Dmitry Salita (Brooklyn), Paulie Malignaggi (Brooklyn), etcComment
