After their first title wins, Bowe, Mercer and Moorer became FAR better known than Klitschko is, although he's won TEN title fights now (several WBO a few years ago and IBF more recently).

This is completely ridiculous. If you're basing this argument on Pavlik it is pretty obvious why he has gotten a lot of attention. He is from a small, hard luck town that has seen a period of depression with nothing to really root for. He was seen as a massive underdog to the guy who had, as you said, beaten the long time champ twice and was not really considered to have much of a great skill set like the amazingly athletic Taylor. If you remember Taylor had become a huge star in his own town and was also a pretty big cross-over star himself...Oh yeah, he also happens to be black!

Not only that, but Pavlik was seen as the classic guy who fights it hard against the odds by fighting with a massive will power and mental strength. That is what attracts people to him. Doesn't matter if he's black or white. Look at Holyfield! He had the same thing going for him. He was always seen as a massive underdog going in against the odds being smaller and fighting on pure heart and everyone loved him for it!

You're looking at this from the wrong way man, and are obviously missing out on some big facts.

I agree with everything you just said, just seems Taylor wasnt as beloved to me still when he won, just doesnt seem the same. Trust me I agree with you and also I dont think Taylor was favored by big odds as you make it.

Why can't Paulie Malignaggi get fights? Kelly Pavlik is popular because he's exciting... Because there's really no other white, or champions of Euro descent, name a fighter in history that's gotten unnecessary hype due to race... If you can. Look at the face of boxing? Floyd Mayweather Jr. And Oscar de la Hoya is not white, lol. This topic is ******.

This is emphatically NOT TRUE. If anything whites are badly discriminated against as athletes, though this is mostly by self-hating whites who want things in easy-to-understand stereotypes.

A white athlete is never taken as seriously, and rarely rated as highly as deserved. If Pavlik for instance were black he'd be twice as popular.

It's not just within boxing, it's the entire media. White people get shot at college, the media will cover it for weeks. Hispanics and Blacks get killed in High School often and no one cares.
