"we've seen Calzaghe turn boxer, can Kessler now turn brawler"

    Sums it up really.

Stop saying he could easily outbox so-and-so. Could he outfight so-and-so? Absolutely. Calzaghe has extremely fast hands and throws tons of combinations.

But he's not a particularly good boxer. In fact, i've rarely seen him box an opponent at the elite level. he picks his spots to fight but he rarely actually steps back and works off a jab.

He hardly ever even uses a jab.
Calzaghe is a boxer who can brawl when he feels he has to. He outboxed Kessler, he outboxed Eubank to a certain extent, he outboxed Brewer, he DOMINATED Lacy, need I really go on?

Calzaghe not a boxer is the most rediculous thing I've ever seen. When was the last time you saw him box? I doubt you have seen a Calzaghe fight in your life, and are just pissed because 99% of true boxing fans know he could KO pavlik inside 6.

Of course he's an excellent boxer. You'd have to be pretty ****** not to realise that. He doesn't "box" as much as he should though. The second half of the Kessler fight made a lot of people, who were adamant beforehand that Kessler would win any boxing exchanges, look very very foolish. He outboxed him, pure and simple.

WTF Joe is a quality boxer, look at his amateur pedigree ABA titles at 3 DIFFERENT WEIGHTS you can't get that just from "fighting".

                Pretty much.

KBall might have something to say but I think the point was made clearly, Joe has very good boxing skills.

do you rwalsie that pro boxers can also throw 100 punches a round if they wnated to? yet they can't because it's not their style or the way they are effective. **** if roy jones could throw 100 punches then he would. the man is fast, but obviously he can't just throw that many punches.

calzaghe can box if he chooses to, but why the hell should he not throw 100 punches a round? it's made him win a good few fights.

joe has a very good jab. he chooses where to hit and that is good boxing. he is accurate as hell. i've tried throwing a whole lot of pucnhes in sparring, and it only wiorks if you have the footwork and skill to do so. if not then it's just useless.

joe is a fighter than can box. if he fighter style is working then he willc arry on. if he can't then he will try to use his jab more. he lsitens to his dad.

against kessler he tried to fight the first 4 rounds and it was 2-2. then he tried to pick his punches more. that's soemone with skill.

hey dont take what im saying the wrong way. I think Calzaghe is an ECELLENT fight and maybe special, i just do boxing skills in his repetior.

The only time he boxes is A) When Hes fighting a highly overmatched opponent and B) when his opponent is taking a breather or is beaten up and has no will to keep on coming into his wheel house.

And 100% of boxing fans know that Calzaghe would NOT knock Pavlik out within 6 rounds, thats just ******. Could he win? Absolutely. Could he hurt or stop Pavlik? I highly doubt it but its possible i guess. To the body if anywhere

Yep. Joe fights in the manner required - if he needs to box, he can do that. Adjustments were required after the first 1/3 of Kessler, he made them and boxed Kessler supremely well throughout the middle and latter rounds. The small mess he made above Mikkel's left eye wasn't the result of sloppy volume punching, it was evidence of the skill and precision with which Joe took to the task of boxing Kessler cleverly and dilligently for 6-7 rounds.
