Cotto can get a fight with Floyd two ways. Raising his stock, ie getting the fights that will raise his fanbase and gaining most if not all of the other 3 WW belts to get a unification bout with Floyd. It seems he is actually doing a bit of both with his four fights this year. For that I commend him and hopefully the bout with Floyd comes off next year.
Cotto SHOULD fight Gomez & Mayorga and I would too

again cotto don't need to proved **** to mayweather..if cotto does what u wrote i'll say **** mayweather because now there is a guy who had the balls to fight and clean out the division floyd will be forgotten so its better for floyd to make the fight late 08 or 09.Cotto can get a fight with Floyd two ways. Cotto should go on with his career. Just keep fighting the best and he will create his own niche. That being said it's kind of hard to forget the p4p best fighter in the world. That fight needs to happen.Comment

Cotto Vs Floyd won't happen.
That's it. After De la Hoya he gonna fight Quintana or Mosley.

I'll go ahead and call myself a fan of Floyd Mayweather. Most of the posters who have seen me around here over the years can admit I usually have positive things to say, but - even when he was Pretty Boy- I never found him quite cute enough to hug his testicles; a common complaint against Mayweather fans.
That said, I'm not going to bull**** you. You thought out your post and the only thing I really disagree with is that Cotto should be allowed to fight Gomez or anyone else who is not a top contender. Two wrongs don't make a right. If we're complaining that Mayweather isn't fighting the guy he should be- does that excuse Cotto? If Floyd won't fight him there are definitely other welterweight champions (Quintana for instance) he should go after. Cotto would even get a heaping of respect for giving a young, hungry and dangerous prospect like Berto a shot.
Should Cotto fight Gomez? No. It's a fight made to stay busy and collect a check - and if you accept the logic that doing so is alright, then Floyd should be able to mess around and fight Baldomir's half his career while he waits for the big boys to get bigger and offer him more money. Like I said...you can't get a right out of two wrongs- you can't accept Cotto fighting someone below him in both skill and popularity as a tune-up and not give Floyd a free pass for doing similiar things?
That said- why isn't Mayweather fighting Cotto? Because he's at the pinnancle of the sport right now. He's ascended to the top and Cotto is risky. He's a solid, pressure fighter whose bigger than De la Hoya. If Oscar came close to winning imagine a younger fighter who can use his size in a way somewhat akin to what troubled Floyd in his fight with Oscar.
Floyd isn't fighting Cotto because he knows its a risk- and a risk he doesn't want to take yet. I can't blame him, honestly. While I think- for the sport- he should take a fight with Miguel, from a career standpoint the risk is almost greater than the reward.
Mayweather should fight Cotto- but for Cotto to prove he's better than that and only wants the best he needs to fight the division's best- and take the risks. There is no way you can say Gomez is one of the best fighters at welterweight.
I'd rather see Cotto fight: Quintana, Cintron, Berto, even Williams- which would probably be an easy night. There's too much depth at 147 for Cotto to waste time fighting Gomez for any reason right now.
Mayweather is wrong if he doesn't fight Cotto.
Cotto is wrong to fight Gomez.
That's how I see it.Comment

of course not, thats why this thread is not for you but for those who are content with a rematch which is only happening for financial reasons but criticize cotto for trying to raise his stock EVEN after thats what these certain posters originally used as an excuse for Floyd not to fight Cotto as I listed in my initial post.
