Cotto SHOULD fight Gomez & Mayorga and I would too

mayweather is past the point of building his name, why fight cotto now and make, say, $10 mill, when he can wait for him to develop into a superstar, get all the belts, and have a megafight down the road?

i normally respect your post. just wanted to get that out there. i disagree with you on the belt though. when i was first getting into boxing, as a casual fan, i really didnt care about belts. i just wanted to see good match ups. i personally feel that the casual fan also doesnt put much stake in belts or belts that are on the line. I've never really watched a fight were people were like," IF HE LOSES, HE HAS TO GIVE UP ALL 3 BELTS, WBO, IBF, WBC". if anything, they care more about the fighter's record.

as a casual fan, most likely you wont know who anybody is besides the floyds and oscars correct?

unless you watch espn you won't know who gomez is either. so you wont know what a "good match up" will be. but if you see a guy wearing a belt, you'll think to yourself "ok hes the champion, he must be good"

they won't even know about the fighters record unless hes undefeated

He is one of the bigger fighters in the sport in a popular welterweight division.
