I can only see Calzaghe havin one more fight after Hopkins. Id like to see him fight Pavlik but it will probaly be RJJ.

        Shocking.

One of the ****test posts i ever read by far.

Why, what consistency has he shown!?!

He goes through a division beating average fighters heading to a showdown with a top fighter and loses. SMW: RJJ, LH: Montell Griffin, beat some bums a Cruiser then got his fat ass beat by Peter at HW...twice!

Heard him in an interview recently he still thinks he's a top fighter and gonna mop up the HW div....now that is something to about!

I'd have to agree, i`ve never seen anything particularly special about James Toney. When he's faced the top guys he's nearly always lost.

            James Toney beat:

Michael Nunn (36-0 at the time, world champion)
Mike McCallum (43-1 at the time, world champion)
Iran Barkley (30-7 at the time, world champion)
He also beat solid contenders like Reggie Johnson, Tony Thornton, Tim Littles and Charles Williams.

Toney then came back as a cruiserweight and a heavyweight and beat Vassiliy Jirov (31-0 at the time, world champion),
            TKO'd old man Holyfield,
beat Ruiz with the help of 'roids,
            drew with Rahman and
had a close fight with Peter.

Toney was very inconsistent and had some bad losses but he is still one of the greatest of this era.

So beating Michael Nunn by KO at 22 was not a bigger achievement than anything calzaghe has achieved in his entire career?

Is Kessler in the same league as Michael Nunn?

How many weights has calzaghe moved up?

Anyone can show consistency if 20 if their defenses were against the likes of Tocker Pudwill, Kabery Salem and Evans Ashira, or are those guys also in the same League as Nunn and Jones JR ?

What about Branko Soobot, is he a HOF too?

To answer the original question, these wins will unfortunately not do much for his legacy. If he beat Pavlik/Taylor (which he would have no problem doing imo) a win like that would do a lot for his legacy. Joe is one of the most naturally skilled boxers of the last 15 years but he hasn't beaten top names, which is a shame.
