Hmm,intresting question,i picked not far from it,Mayweather has shown a couple signs,he doesnt throw as much punches as he did in the lightweight and light welter divisions, and he doesnt shoulder roll as much,so yeh,i think theres signs he has,but u can also seen hes got even more smarter,he uses his head more and picks his punches

Hes still the best fighter on the planet, but doesnt throw as much as he did in the lower weights, mainly becuase hes moved up 5 different classes

Hatton was a different story. He brought heart but didn't have power and had a mental block at 147. Hatton was the kind of opponent who was bred to lose to a megastar in a superfight.

Mayweather throwing one punch at a time won't beat Cotto or Paul Williams.
And if he faces and defeats a Cotto or a Williams?

Im one of Cottos biggest fan,Mayweathers too,but i think Mayweather beats Cotto, outboxes him with left hooks,i cant see Cotto beating him, especially with the defence and chin Floyd has,Paul Williams has the better chance,i do not think Cotto will beat Floyd

Not to mention Cotto struggled against Mosley, who at this stage, isnt on Floyds level,Floyd takes this,it would be the biggest fight at welterweight for YEARS,but i think Floyd would show why hes the best boxer of this generation

No but I wouldn't mind one. You commented on him not being hungry enough to beat these young up and coming guys. I am saying if hee DOES beat them you need to analyze the difference between desire to win and desire to remain the best.

Which young, undefeated fighters has he been messing with lately? There are a great deal of young fighters out there for him to fight, but he's interested in fighting Hatton, DLH, guys that are in his age bracket or older.

Look at Hopkins and Jermain Taylor. Was Taylor a better fighter, or did he just seem younger and hungrier? Answer that and you'd have learned something for cheap.

You can argue he's not fighting at his best weight, since he still easily makes 140 and would be more effective there, but he's still clearly in his prime, since he doesn't take the punishment of a lot of pressure fighters and he stays in shape in between fights.

I have to greatly disagree with you pal! floyd can adapt to any style or fighter. He has done it his whole career. he has faced every possible type of opponent. Jesus chavez and castillo especially castillo a prime castillo like the one floyd fought is a better body puncher and pressurer then cotto is right now. Floyd handled it pretty well. The PW match up might take a couple rounds to get used to but floyd wins that too. The only guy i thought had a real chance against him match up wise was judah. and judah did a great job in the opening rounds of showing he would be a tough match up but floyd being floyd he will over come what you got......plain and simple because he is just better then you.

Mayweather threw combinations against Hatton and I think he could beat Cotto even if Cotto throws "a 100 body punches per round" (Something Hatton was supposed to do or something in that general area).

Cotto is a sucker for the overhand right, Mayweather's best punch, and the uppercut. Floyd could I think get by with potshoting, but he should throw more combinations.

Williams is a different case though. He's tall, a southpaw, throws many more punches then Cotto, and doesn't seem to tire. I can see Williams beating Mayweather, but it's gonna depend how long he can stay at 147. I think his time is running up there and if he fights Floyd it could be like the Corrales fight.

I just think he's become more smarter really. His offense maybe declined, but he's made up for it and has kept winning.
