The Tarver that beat Jones was fighting against an old man. And also, the Tarver that fought old Roy gets beaten by prime Reid, Eubank, Kessler and probably even Lacy, and thats not even me thinking hard, just names off the top of my head that would destroy Tarver.

Glen Johnson beat Roy Jones, could he beat Calzaghe as well?

Audley Harrison won a gold, not sum ****ty other colour like Tarver, and the guys a joke. You cant use someone Joe has never fought as a yard stick of how good a fighter will do against him.

Reid DID beat Calzaghe IMO, but there are reasons for a lot of things that happen to Joe. He didnt spar for the Reid fight, at all. He couldnt, he had shattered the carpal bone in his left wrist, yet he still threw it with enough authority in the fight to convince to out of three judges he had beaten a world class challenger, thats not bad going in my book.

i disagree i think it was his ability to outbox Kessler from range by jabbing and moving, Kessler couldn`t match Calzaghe's jab and looked a bit confused. When Calzaghe stood in front of him it was an altogether different fight.
Kessler won round 12 so his conditioning couldn`t have been that bad.

I think people disagree with me thinking Prime tarver could beat calzaghe, but thats fine.

But what youve gotta remember is that while calzaghe is a world class fighter, he hasnt been in the ring with the calibre of fighters tarver has, not at until he gets in the ring with Hopkins, before the Hopkins-Tarver fight people were quick to give B-Hop no chance, then tarver lost and people say he was **** all along.

Calzaghe is not ominpotent, infact he's been knocked down by lesser fighters than tarver, i dont really wanna go into the fact calzaghe has fought about 3/4 world class fighter in 10 years, but a rangy southpaw with good power and general boxing skills would cause him real issues and thats what Tarver can be.

Lets see what happens against old man Hopkins, the guy is quality, but hasnt fought the highest calibre opponents in his era, when he gets with better opposition lets see what happens.

                  Earth to this dude.

                  Are you for real?

A shot 37yo Roy Jones and a 41yo Hopkins are on the level of Eubank or a 28yo Kessler. Easy.

And remember Lacy was a bum after Joe ate him up.

Sorry how old was Jones again?

Who he beat for the last 5yrs? dont say Ruiz but i must agree Nady and Jones did beat him.

Time will tell how good Kessler is and just because he didnt beat any Americans dont mean his resume is not ultra solid.
