A lot of the people who used to criticize Hopkins are gone or feel no need to do it anymore now that Hopkins has lost again. People were infuriated by his comments as usual.

Many people saw Calzaghe fight for the first time against old Hopkins and did not like what they saw, which is why he gets hated on. I always thought it was a dumb move for Calzaghe to fight Hopkins in his U.S. debut.

He needs a better performance against Jones, something like Abraham - Miranda II or Calzaghe - Lacy, just shockingly dominant.
Doubtful but a lot of people would see the 'light' if Calzaghe went in there and blasted out old Roy, or better yet, Kelly Pavlik.

Good stuff, the only one that i disagree with you on is the Toney fight. Toney (at 100%) would have been a bit too much IMO. He could not only box well on the outside but he could get on the inside and he was cleary seperior at infighting. I would give Hopkins the advantage on the outside, but Toney would definitely hold his own because he was brilliant at rolling his shoulder and making you pay with the right hand. Like Hopkins, he was one of those old school throw back fighters but Toney was even more old school simply because he actually mixed it up at times.
I believe it would come down to Toney's lack of footwork, Hopkins has the ability to make it his type of fight, but it should be close. Imagine Toney vs McCallum, something similar to that.

Toney's fights with MCallum are one of the best fights i have seen Toney in. He was actually in shape and was fighting for the entire fight. Toney could force the fight and bring pressure to Hopkins as demenstrated in his fights with Tim Littles ect. Hopkins was out worked by Taylor and was being out pointed by a smaller De La Hoya. Oscar was actually countering effectively and catching Hopkins have off balance. The difference was that his smaller size was catching up with him as the fight wore on and he started to get walked down by the much naturally bigger Hopkins. Toney is one of the best counter punchers i have seen and is excellent at creating opening and is not affraid to take chances. If he feels he is getting the worse of a boxing match, he will up the pressure and force the fight.

Toney showed excellent footwork when he concentrated on boxing instead of planting his feet and look to counter. Check out this video. Only pay attention to his feet.

Hopkins was not prime in DLH or the Taylor fights.

Seriously, the "living legend" in his prime would be lucky to win against 2 of these guys who were all around in his era. What do you think?

I posted this on another board, just wondering what you think.

B Hop beats all but Toney v Hopkins is a pick em fight

Hopkins beats them all apart from Jones, Hopkins vs Toney would be a 50/50 fight though.

He was more closer to his prime in the De La Hoya fight. We have to remember that he had all of the middlweight titles and was number one pound for pound until he lost to Taylor.
