As I said, we'll know more when someone like Bute or Kessler connect with a couple of big ones. Reid got a tanking off of him (i know he was past his best) but he threw out one shot near the end of the fight that stopped Froch momentarily, it would have been interesting if it had been a two or three punch flurry. As I said Jury's out (a bit like with Chad, both have the tools, do they have the chin??)

If everyone were in their prime in these fights I would take Hopkins in all except against Jones and with Calzaghe and Toney being a real pick 'em fight. Could go either way if all are in top form. The whole Welterweight crap is getting pretty boring as well. He fought two! 'Holy ****! He's been fighting blown up WW's his whole career and thats the only reason he's famous!!!!' Get real!

I honestly can't believe some people are actually picking Benn over Hopkins!? Are you guys serious? Takin' the piss? Benn was murdered by Watson in five and beaten by Eubank twice! Hopkins would have a field day with Benn who fights perfect for Hopkins. Comes straight in swinging with nothing but power...Oh thats right, I forgot, Hopkins has been knocked out by heaps of guys and his defense is ****!....

-Anyway, the fight with Eubank would be a good, hard, close fight with Hopkins taking a close UD.
-Against Toney I really do think it could go either way with the edge going to Hopkins though. If it was at SMW I would give the edge to Toney but here I think Hopkins' work rate would be the big difference. Hopkins SD.
-Hopkins vs Benn would be a whitewash with Benn looking good and aggressive in the first few rounds but after not landing anything and quickly tiring, Hopkins comes on late and gets the KO or TKO around the tenth.
-Against McClellan it could be a good fight. He had the boxing skills to go with his power unlike some of the other power punchers (Benn) and might be able to use them to some decent advantage. I still think it would go to Hopkins though but there could be some close moments. UD.
-Would be a very similar fight as with Benn but Collins would last the distance in a scrappy affair.
-Calzaghe has the boxing skills, evasiveness and output to test Hopkins. Like Toney I think this could go either way maybe with a slight advantage to Hopkins as we're talking primes (even though they fought in different divisions ). Difficult fight to pick though.
-Jones wins this one but in a much closer fight than their first one. Hopkins has gained in smarts and uses some great rough house tactics to bust up Jones eye and catch him with a lot of straight rights. An awkward, close, semi-boring fight that shows Jones' weakness' but still in a win.
I agree with you but I think Calzaghe would just about pull it off Prime for Prime.

They should hate Froch's resume, I haven't heard froch call out Bute... Or vice-versa... Are these two afraid to fight each other? Are they afraid of getting that first loss on their record?

To whoever said Hopkins only fought 2 WWs, here are a couple more:

              These are title defences, btw:

Steve Frank, started at LW, beaten at JWW prior to Hopkins.
              Simon Brown, former WW champ.
Carl Daniels, fought as low as 140, most fights at 154 and below prior to Hopkins.
              etc
              etc.

                  Funny how this has changed

Everyone hates on Calzaghe now, Jermain Taylor got it too for beating Bernie. Maybe Bernie is secretly the most loved fighter in the world?

Good stuff, the only one that i disagree with you on is the Toney fight. Toney (at 100%) would have been a bit too much IMO. He could not only box well on the outside but he could get on the inside and he was cleary seperior at infighting. I would give Hopkins the advantage on the outside, but Toney would definitely hold his own because he was brilliant at rolling his shoulder and making you pay with the right hand. Like Hopkins, he was one of those old school throw back fighters but Toney was even more old school simply because he actually mixed it up at times.
