This is the problem with fighters today, always looking for lucrative matchups when they should be fighting the top contenders that are available. A match with Abraham would be a reasonable choice, but I'm assuming Wright is looking for one big payday and than retire.

Not sure if someone already said it, but if I were Winky I would go after Pantera. I think an in-shape Winky would embarrass Miranda and maybe even KO on pure accumulation over ten rounds. Winky's defense is too good for Miranda to land a clean bomb and he doesn't have much beyond the looping power shots. It would be a solid win against a respected contender, and it would undoubtedly give him leverage to demand a big fight with the Pavlik-Taylor or Calzaghe-Hopkins winner.

I like Winky, but I think he's making a mistake. He can beat Abraham and a win in that fight would set up a BIG fight with Kelly Pavlik. A win in that fight would set up even more money in either a rematch or possibly another big fight. He can leave money on the table now and get exponentially more later if he plays his cards right, but he seems to want to hit the lotto every time he steps in the ring.

Again, I like him. I'm not going to rip him like Larry Merchant, but I do think he's making a mistake. There are a lot of fights and getting involved in some of them will make him more money in the long run. But a closed mouth don't get fed. Being stubborn ain't getting you nowhere Winky. Take a fight in the spring and get another in the summer.

People do need to keep in mind that Winky has taken A LOT of short money fights in his career. He HAS paid his dues. He's not going to get the money he wants for every fight, but he has paid his dues moreso than someone like Tony Margarito who seems to get MUCH MORE support for his MUCH wilder demands.

winky needs to retire cuz I don't care to see him fight anymore. but on an unselfish note, he could probably continue to fight until he is 55 with his fighting style and still get wins.

Is Winky really your least favorite fighter, or did I get under your skin that bad?

Winky has made so much more money than Margarito it isn't even funny. He probably made more in the Taylor fight than Margarito has in his whole career. Whether it's perceived that he got short money earlier in his career or not, it means nothing as to his value today.

                      Disagree...

Winky won the Taylor fight according to a lot of people.

                      He blew Quartey out.

He put up as good of a fight against Hopkins (except for a prime Roy Jones) as anyone has IMO.
