That rudeness they displayed at the Hatton-Mayweather fight by booing and singing that same gay old song over and over, just made the whole knock out of Hatton even greater. So, in that instance, it didn't bother me at all. lol
..Are British Fans Rude?...

I have to say yes. Only because, they booed during the US anthem. I don't mind mocking a country. But doing it to an anthem is fairly rediculous.I was reading the new issue of The Ring Magazine, and I got to thinking of some of the outrageous things that SOME British fans have done.
- Recently, they booed the singing of the American National anthem.. In America.
- Giving Marvin Hagler less than a minute to celebrate the winning of his middleweight crown before throwing bottles and garbage at "Marvelous" and the ring.
- Apparently, in Birmingham two years ago, they celebrated the return of a major fight in their city after a 12-year absent, due to rioting. They rioted that night.
I'm sure you can make a claim that all fans have their bad moments or their bad nights. I'd agree with you about any country having those kinds of things happening. However, I'm simply asking the question.. Are British fans a "ruder" bunch then the average group of boxing fans?
This is not to bash the British, it's just a simple question. If you don't think so, you can just say "No, they are not."Comment

What do you mean they went out of their way to boo it? It's not as if they showed up, booed the national anthem and then ****ed off. The reason they didn't cheer God Save The Queen is fairly obvious I would have thought. If ti doesn't mean much, they wouldn't cheer theirs, and boo another. They'd be silent for both, correct? That would truly mean not caring. They, could have just sang that ****** Hatton song the whole time. They actually went "out of their way" to boo it. I don't really care, but it's rude.
I'm sure not all fans are like that. But to act as if it's a completely innocent act is insane.Comment

I'm talking about stopping what they normally were up to, in terms of praising Hatton in that ridiculous song, or just kept talking amongst themselves. Even when MY OWN anthem (the American one) plays, I just keep talking to a nearby friend. I don't boo or cheer it. THAT'S not caring about it. Booing it, for the SAKE of booing it, is in a sense, is going out of your way. It's just not needed.
You don't have to think it's rude. But it is. No point to it. Just ignore it, that would be paying no attention to it.Comment

its just the physci in this country to treat the outsider like the pantomime Villain ,although i agree it is dumb & tastless & i was ashamed that they never STF during the anthem & during the way in ,however the way u & other people have jumped on this so much as a way to discredit every British fan leaves me feeling less & less apologeticIf ti doesn't mean much, they wouldn't cheer theirs, and boo another. You could have said "No." With your explanation, I would have understood your choice. I'm not JUMPING on the issue, as if all fans are that way. In fact, I've stated countless times in this thread alone that I realize it's not ALL British fans. This is a generalization, in the sense that the majority of the fans were atleast rude on that night. I would have done the same thing if the American fans had booed and I found some other interesting things to build up a decent thread about "American fans being rude." I just read the comment in The Ring Magazine, and I thought it'd be interesting.
If you said, Americans are fat. I'd have to agree, because generally they are. I'm not, but that doesn't change the average. The essential question was, is the average British boxing fan rude. You can say yes or no to that. To say they weren't rude for booing the anthem, I think is a bit strange. But, nonetheless, in general, they are like every other group of fans. I was just asking to get other opinions.Comment

Call me crazy, but I think this is the main reason the US national anthem got booed..
