Im talkin about FIGHTER of the year... not biggest grossing...

Pavlik FOUGHT, and knocked 3 people out, in one year, all the way up to and including the champion...

    thats FIGHTER of the year
This FIGHTER, FOUGHT in the two biggest FIGHTS of the year and won BOTH FIGHTS. HE IS FIGHTER OF THE YEAR BECAUSE OF WHAT HE ACCOMPLISHED INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE RING, FIGHTING.

I don't think there's a realistic fight where Floyd wouldn't be the favorite...

I don't disagree with anyone saying Pavlik deserved the nod because well....................HE DOES. I am just stating the reasoning not the opinion.

Everyone who says it was Mayweather uses the fact that he was in the 2 biggest fights of this year as their proof.

Mayweather was a 2-1 favorite against an old, DLH. And he wooped Hatton who was hopelessly outclassed from the start.

Pavlik went from untested Contender to World Middleweight champ in 3 fights, all inside the same year.... and ALL three of those fights had FOTY action and he knocked out all three of those fighters
I always laugh when you use that odds bull**** for your argument. Floyd will be favored to beat pretty much anyone he steps in the ring with, so that means he doesn't deserve credits for his victory? STOP BITCHIN'

He deserves credit but not FOTY credit!!!

Mayweather was in the ring with a man who was outclassed (Hatton) and an older fighter who has lost several of his last few fights. Neither guy had a chance going into the fight.

Pavlik on the other hand, was only picked to beat Zertuche this year, and knocked out all three of them. Including a practically undefeated and hungry contender and an undefteated middleweight champion...

Odds have everything to do with this. Who was favored over who.

Now if DLH and Hatton were his only options then okay maybe. ANd im not saying Floyd shouldnt have taken those fights because they both made a lot of sense. Im not discrediting him for that. But when you have guys like Cotto out there, who he would come in at a slight favorite over, and you dont fight him, u dont win fighter of the year.

Shouldnt you have to beat SOMEBODY thats among the best in ur division??? Pavlik beat Taylor, THE BEST in the division, and MIRANDA, at the time the #1 contender...

But he wouldn't be the overwhelming favorite in some others. That's the key.

He would be at least 2-1, against anyone in the WW (including Super WWs and Light WWs) division. If that's not "overwhelming", then we need to define what "overwhelming" means.

Floyds the best fighter in the sport, pavlik isnt. Pavlik can have his foty award. I dont think anyone is argueing he doesnt deserve that. But floyd put boxing back on the front page and espn and brought us the controversy that is 24/7. Theres nothing wrong with floyd being fighter of the year. Because the truth is 2007 was the year of floyd mayweather, floyd mayweather was boxing in 2007. Everday people that dont even like boxing ask me, how'd floyd do against oscar or how'd floyd do against hatton. Not one person has asked me how pav did? It dpends on the definition of fighter of the year. I'd say they both have strong arguments. But floyd is much more recognized.
