Did Jones ever fight a puncher comparable to Pavlik when he was in his prime, or at 160?

Maybe he would win, odds on it are favorable but by annhilation? If annhilation means running around the ring throwing one punch at time outpointing him in rather indescive rounds.

        So everyone is saying "Pavlik".

I'm not sold that he's going to win the second fight coming up. Last I remember, Taylor had him completely out on his feet like a rag doll and then......down twice and the only reason he didn't finish him, was because he gassed himself out by throwing wasted punches......primarily because he couldn't control his nerves in the firefight.

I think the second fight is 50/50.
Pavlik was not out on his feet. He got hit under the ear. That messes with your balance. He was not even close to out. He didn't even take a count after going down.

I dont mean to criticize Jones in the post above because he'd have to be very cautious with Kelly at any point his career, he couldn't afford any mistakes against him.

James Toney and Virgil Hill were bigger punchers than Pavlik and both had better overall BOXING skills

RJ would be desperately hoping Pavlik doesn't carry his punch all the way to 175.

RJ is still likely to beat anyone, IF he can take their power upstairs.

He is still flashy and scores effectively enuff to win by desicision.

Kelly Pavlik would put the weak chinned Jones to sleep with a right hand bomb...this is a bad fight for RJJ.

Pavlik also has this move where he throws a fast left hook, straight right combo, don't know if anyone notices when he does it. He could potentially sweep Roy's "Winky guard" right out of the way.

I've seen him pull that move on a few guys.

being knocked out the way taylor was messes with your head, especially somebody as mentally weak as taylor. 50 /50 is being way too generous to taylor

pavlik is a tall wiry guy, like tommy hearns, those guys always have good punching power. at 175, where i think kelly will end his career, he'll still be a good puncher, good enough to knock roy out. if roy was young, he'd school pavlik, but the roy of today would get stopped late when he leaned back on the ropes

These are all tougher fights than Tarver and Johnson were. Has Roy actually improved?
