Jones can win this fight by outboxing Pavlik, using his jab and using his legs, but if he gets caught, it's lights out.

Young Roy would have put on a clinic, but old Roy will have to be carried out of the ring.

Kelly is a big, strong, young kid. Trinidad actually landed 1 or 2 left hooks on Jones..not totally solid but pretty good..

Kelly is a gorilla. Jones likes covering up on the ropes nowadays. That would be a disaster. Pavlik destroys guys when they go to the ropes.

Pavlik also has this move where he throws a fast left hook, straight right combo, don't know if anyone notices when he does it. He could potentially sweep Roy's "Winky guard" right out of the way.

I've seen him pull that move on a few guys.

Pavlik would win by ko/tko late, but if it was a prime jones, Jones by easy ud, late stoppage

That's what I mean, he can't lay up on the ropes, he has to keep moving on his legs and use his jab.

Kelly, please avoid Roy at all costs. You are a good young fighter who shouldnt have to be exposed by an all time great like Roy Jones. For your own good, please dont ever take this chance because after Roy beats you, they will just say you werent any good because a 40 year old legend schooled you. Please Kelly, dont risk it.

you cant start slow and expect to beat kelly pavlik

if jones laid back and gave him the same opportunites that he gave tito for the first three rounds he wouldnt survive them

Roy should leave Mr.Pavlik alone. Thats the worse fight that he could possibly take. a younger, stronger, and more powerful opponent that never takes a step back. It would be Glen Johnson times 3. Roy would lay on the ropes and that where Pavlik gets most of his knockouts. I rather see Roy fight Hopkins or get the winner of Taver/Woods. Johnson is not beating Dawson so yall can hang that one up. Dawson, Kessler, and Pavlik would simply be too much for Roy at this stage of his career.
Now, Pavlik TKO 6 Roy Jones Jr.
10 years ag0, Roy wide UD Kelly Pavlik

                    Ok.

                    So everyone is saying "Pavlik".

I'm not sold that he's going to win the second fight coming up. Last I remember, Taylor had him completely out on his feet like a rag doll and then......down twice and the only reason he didn't finish him, was because he gassed himself out by throwing wasted punches......primarily because he couldn't control his nerves in the firefight.

I think the second fight is 50/50.

I'd say roys stamina now adays would hurt him more than his chin in this fight. He has great stamina but he has to rest a little now and then nowadays, Pavlik doesnt get tired. jones could definently win but he couldnt lay on the ropes once. Prime vs Prime at 160. Jones by annihilation.
