Mayweather was never serious about the fight. He wanted a day of the fight weigh-in. Who does he think he is, Ray Leonard?

I'd love to see Forrest-Margarito, but I have a feeling Top Rank isn't trying to compromise Margarito. Vernon is a tough fight for anyone at those weights and it's difficult to imagine anyone beating him at 154. Forrest deserves a big fight and if Margarito is as bad as he claims to be, then he should do everything he can to get this fight.

You right about that, he's building up the Cotto vs Margarito fight as if its gonna do big PPV #s.

It's a good fight if it's made and if you're going on talent alone, it's all Forrest. If he can outjab Margarito, he can neutralize everything Margarito has. Margarito needs his momentum to get pop on his shots, but Forrest's jab would offset Margarito's rhythm. I think Forrest is the kind of fighter that Margarito's camp should avoid. Margarito would get much better punching angles against Cotto.

Yes, but a prime Forrest had trouble taking Mayorga shots, I think Margarito is a bigger puncher than Mayorga.

Id say so also, but at the time Forrest's left rotator was injured and he couldn't throw an authoritative jab. Compare Forrest's jab then to the one he pushed into Baldomir's nose and you can see Forrest is much healthier.

I'm not a fan of his, but Forrest looked very sharp last year. We'll see what happens when he steps up the level of his competition.

Forrest is just as shot as Toney. If you have seen his fight from Dec you see he dont have much left, after throwing puches he is overbalancing! I think he should fight Winky, Winky would take him to school!

I don't even see why Arum wants to protect that Cotto/Margarito match up

don't get me wrong on paper its a good fight

but why is Cotto fighting the man that got beaten (Margarito)
                    over the undefeated P-Will?

and good fight aside, would Margarito/Cotto really sell that much better as a PPV vs Williams/Cotto?

I haven't been talking to Bob Arum, but I figure that it would appeal to every single hardcore boxing fan, plus a lot of PR and Mexican/American fans. Williams hasn't developed much of a fanbase yet not to mention Arum would have to deal with another promoter, cutting in to his own profits.
