Mayweather vs. De La Hoya was the biggest fight but it wasn't the most entertaining.

I am talking about what kind of fight did the most for the fighters' legacies.

I'm taking Mayweather vs. De La Hoya off, because everyone who is voting for it is not giving the response that I am asking for...

Meaningful? De La Hoya/Mayweather... it's not even an issue. It brought mainstream exposure and fans. It made Mayweather a recognizable name. It made a **** load of money. It brought people into the sport. It made GOLDE BOY PROMOTIONS the undisputed king of promoters?

If you think the most MEANINGFUL fight of the year was Calz/Kessler or Pav/Taylor, you're not thinking about it right.

Calzaghe needed to beat Kessler. Lacy has proven to be somewhat overrated, so it's not a fight he could have leaned on any longer.

I'll pick Calzaghe-Kessler, the fight pretty much removed all doubt that Calzaghe is the best SMW. Kessler was by far the best opponent for Calzaghe to face at that time. A close second I would pick Pavlik-Taylor, Pavlik within just the year of 2007 rose to stardom beating Zertuche, then Miranda, when everyone thought Miranda would walk all over him, and then beating the undefeated JT who has been in the ring with a lot of world class fighters.
