Niether are top guys...sorry. Teddy Reid gave him a hell of a fight too. Wins for Reid and Ortiz dont mean much. Cintron has fought one notable fight and that was vs Margarito. I said elite fighter or better than decent, Reid and Ortiz do not fit that description.

I know Cintron has the power and all and Cotto's chin is questionable, but I've become very skeptical of Cintron since his last fight. I like the guy still, don't get me wrong, but his actions as of late are rubbing me the wrong way I guess and I'm not quite sure what he is doing. When you think about it, his calling off the bout with Williams was the chain effect that lead to all these great match ups that were supposed to take place to fall apart.
read the interview on b0xing talk dot com. He explains it, he says he'll fight Clottey after Cotto (even though Cotto will beat him). He is looking for big money fights.

I think Cotto left his suspect chin behind at 140, he took Mosley and Judah's bombs pretty well at 147 so I am convinced that he has a good chin.

As for the fight, Cotto is the superior Puerto Rican fighter and I think he would stop Cintron in the mid rounds. Cintron would be overwhelmed by Cotto's furious pressure and I can see him folding just like he did against Margarito.

        Miguel Cotto KO 7

Cintron also better not come to the ring with his hair dyed into a Puerto Rican flag like he sed to. My god that was ******, i was almost ashamed to be Puerto Rican when he did that.

they were top guys at the time cintron fought them. margarito is better then both of them, but it is wrong to say they werent top guys. maybe in todays welterweight division they wouldnt be top guys, but they were back then.

if they were, they didnt deserve to be. Ortiz? He beat all the bums they threw at him in South America but every half way decent guy he has fought KOd him, hell even Reid KOd him if my memory serves me correcty. What was Reids best win? Probaby against Ortiz lol. He lost to Tackie and Golden Johnson. Neither one of Ortiz and Reid belonged in the top 10 regardless to if they were there or not. Wins over them dont mean much, thats al im saying. Those are not notable fights or wins. Especially not Ortiz. You could maybe argue Reid but i cant believe you threw Ortiz name in there.

look at the rings top 10 list right now, maybe Cintron should fight Jackson Bonsu who is a "top fighter." That would be a notable win...

cintron beat who was put in front of him, that's all i was saying. some of they guys were considered top 10 fighters. of course i dont think elio ortiz is an elite guy, but ring magazine apparently did. i think his wins over both estrada and suarez (i know you sayd "who is he?", but he is a huge puncher) and matthysse are worth more than the win over ortiz, but i was basing what i put on actual rankings.

Suarez is a huge puncher? Who has he KOd? Thanks. He is not a huge puncher. How can you consider a guy like that a HUGE puncher when he has KOd nobody worth mentioning? Just becase someone is in the top 10 doesnt mean they are elite, as i tried showing you with the statement about Jackson Bonsu. And Estrada? Estrada isnt that great either, he just a wild swinging guy with lots of confidence and a decent chin. But that is proabbly Cintron's best win yet.

Suarez is a big puncher. but that's besides the point...

cintron has only ever fought 1 guy that you would consider "elite" and he lost. he has had to fight his way back to where he is now, and he has. he is trying to line up some bigger fights, but you say he doesnt deserve them because "who has he beat?" well if you say he doesnt deserve big fights because he's never had big fights you have put him in a catch-22.
