In order to rank Floyd near Sugar Ray he would have to fight and at least come close to beating Calzaghe. Robinson sure as hell would fight Calzaghe if he was fighting today. Ray would also have fought Tszyu, Cotto, Williams, Spinks, Pavlik and Hopkins.

Floyd is great but it's insulting to Robinson's legacy to rank Floyd ahead of him when he's not even proved to be the best at 147.

          Sugar Ray Robinson

Robinson has one of the hardest punches I've ever seen, I believe he killed a few boxers in the ring (that's what happens when you fight bums) but he is no where near as skilled or as fast as Mayweather.

please prove them wrong... it disgusts me

No not to solidify anything.. But to prove he is a champ or at leasts thinks like one and not some Hollywood actor. A fighter with pride would welcome ALL challenges, especially when the public perception is such that he is afraid or "tentative" to fight Cotto. Floyd will never have my vote. Too ****** and lacking balls.

don't get me wrong Floyd is an all time great, Floyd has done a lot of **** in his career and give him his props he beat the champions of his weight classes regardless how easy or not they were, in WW he beat Judah who WOULD HAVE been the opponent had he taken baldomir seriously to show he would have beaten Judah too then he went and beat Baldomir to secure his dominance, the other guys got the lesser belts and are in a position where THEY have to fight amongst each other, Paul doesn't deserve Floyd yet, neither does Kermit or Margarito so I can understand why Floyd faced Ricky and is now eyeing Cotto because Cotto been stepping up and winning all his fights, took Shane out of the mix and beat enough prospects and other good opponents to consider himself worthy, Cotto and Floyd will make each other great but better than Robinson HELL NO..

bottomline Floyd may have a better and slicker fighting style but it ain't HOW you throw your hands it's about what have your hands won for you, Ray earned MORE in his day than what Floyd has earned now, Ray had Floyd's career number of fights times 4, there is NO comparison other than hand skills and technical Boxing but once again that doesn't help stamp your greatness in history over another fighter with a bigger name..
              The bold is wrong.

Robinson won titles a 47 and 60. Mayweather at 30, 35, 47 (sticking only with real titles like the one Robinson won, forget 40 and 54).

              Robinson never faced Charley Burley.

Robinson is still the greatest anyways.

If Mayweather beat Calzaghe he would be touweighed by 30 pounds, and facing a GREAT. He would have to be ranked #1 ALL TIME (130 to 168, are you kidding me?, however PBF beating Zag is IMPOSSIBLE (30THIRTY30 pounds, and JC is JC).

Floyd is already a great, Cotto or no Cotto.

To be there with Robinson he would have to stay at 147 (or move to 140) and be the top dog for a few years, even slightly past his prime. That is not going to happen as Mayweather is not going to risk his health. But TWO reigns (130 and 147 would) do it.
