Floyd has a better fighting style, his punches aren't so wide at times and he doesn't leave himself open to be hit as much because even when his hands are low he uses his shoulders as a defense but when you compare credentials, actual qualifying credentials that rate you amongst the elite of all time he cant phase Robinson, Robinson has a longer career than Floyd and won titles in more weight classes, he has had trilogies and fought some guys more than 3 times, dude was a beast and took on anybody, back then it started out for pride then ended out for money but all the while those guys ducked nobody, they all fought the best they could, Sugar Ray surpasses Floyd by at least 10-20 miles in a race..
don't get me wrong Floyd is an all time great, Floyd has done a lot of **** in his career and give him his props he beat the champions of his weight classes regardless how easy or not they were, in WW he beat Judah who WOULD HAVE been the opponent had he taken baldomir seriously to show he would have beaten Judah too then he went and beat Baldomir to secure his dominance, the other guys got the lesser belts and are in a position where THEY have to fight amongst each other, Paul doesn't deserve Floyd yet, neither does Kermit or Margarito so I can understand why Floyd faced Ricky and is now eyeing Cotto because Cotto been stepping up and winning all his fights, took Shane out of the mix and beat enough prospects and other good opponents to consider himself worthy, Cotto and Floyd will make each other great but better than Robinson HELL NO..
bottomline Floyd may have a better and slicker fighting style but it ain't HOW you throw your hands it's about what have your hands won for you, Ray earned MORE in his day than what Floyd has earned now, Ray had Floyd's career number of fights times 4, there is NO comparison other than hand skills and technical Boxing but once again that doesn't help stamp your greatness in history over another fighter with a bigger name..Comment
