If Roy Jones Jr Never Left 168.....

But it was up to DM to push the fight. Jones was the man at 175 and had far more pulling power than DM. It was up to DM to go over to the US and fight Roy, he didn't. If he was over there pushing Jones for a fight and Roy didn't give him one then I would criticise Jones for it, but that wasn't the case. DM preferred to just stay at home.Comment

Michalczewski probably felt he was the man at 175 though. He beat the unified champion Virgil Hill and held all the belts which were quickly stripped off him for various reasons. RJJ then collected the vacant belts. But it was up to DM to push the fight. Jones was the man at 175 and had far more pulling power than DM. DM did say that he would definitely fight Roy Jones after he breaks Marciano's record, unfortunately his attempt failed when he lost a split decision to JC Gonzales in his 49th fight. Roy was KO'd by Tarver soon after.Comment

But he did. He talked about fighting Jones in America several times. This is the same lame "stay at home" cop out that gets used with any potential challenger to an American fighter. But it was up to DM to push the fight. Jones was the one who stated on German television that he would fight Dariusz but only for $10m.Comment

Roy was Dariusz's challenger you **** up. When you move into a new division, you dont become the man until you beat the man. If Roy wanted to be the best LHW, he'd call out the best and do his upmost to make the fight happen.
Cant believe we got someone here calls himself a boxing fan but condones a contender completely ignoring the main guy in the divisionComment

Dariusz never said he wanted to break Marciano's record first, and then fight Roy! Actually long before he was close to the record, he tried to make a fight with Jones, and he was willing to go to America.
But Jones preferred to fight cab drivers and duck him.Comment

Yeah I heard him and his team talking about Jones long before the Gonzalez fight. According to what I read, they made 3 offers to Jones to fight him in Germany - all rejected. It was up to Jones' people to make the offer for America - which Dariusz was willing to listen to - but it never came.Comment

ESB article
I'm aware that the fight had been discussed many times.
Jones didn't exactly fight cab drivers, both Michalczewski and Jones fought the same boxers.
Hall, Harmon, Hill, Griffin and Gonzales were common opponents.
The fight should've happened but it's history now. This is why I don't rate Roy Jones as highly at LHW as many others do.Last edited by TheGreatA; 10-09-2008, 07:26 PM.Comment

Yawn. Your 'objective' fake ass veneer is slipping again and your insecure jealousy is showing yet again. Loser. But he did. He talked about fighting Jones in America several times. This is the same lame "stay at home" cop out that gets used with any potential challenger to an American fighter.
