If Roy Jones Jr Never Left 168.....

Would Joe Calzaghe have the same status he does now?

Im just curious... I wont even state my obvious opinion

and also... what if he never left 160? would bernard of had his 20 defenses?

They're both great fighters, but I'd bet on Joe to win. Maybe they could fight at 175 later this year...

I think he had to leave those weights because he couldn't make the weight anymore, atleast 160. He could've stayed at 168 to fight someone like Collins but he wanted Griffin (who beat Toney twice).

It turned out to be a bad choice because he was DQ'd but he avenged that loss easily in the rematch.

Both Joe and Bernard would give RJJ a fight, much more of a fight than most of the people Roy fought (Paz, Frazier, Thornton, Telesco).
Those fights could've improved the legacy of all men involved regardless of wins and losses. Just like the fab 4 in the 80's.

I don't know, I have never seen Roy fight anyone like Calzaghe and vise versa. I think we will have a good idea after we see Calzaghe - Hopkins. An out of prime Hopkins vs a slightly out of prime Calzaghe.

Its been done to death a milllion times, but the answer is no in my opinion.

But It doesnt mean calzaghe isnt world class, very few fighter could have beaten jones in his prime.
