If Roy Jones Jr Never Left 168.....

Hopkins evolved over the years, hitting his prime much later than Jones. He wasnt the best at Middleweight at that time........or even close to it. Which was my point.Comment

Prove it.... 4-5 fights later he took the IBF and didnt let it go for 10 years
wasnt close to it? holy unreal biasness batmanComment

In relation to the thread title, if Roy had of stayed at 168 then there is no way Joe has the same rep. He either would not have fought Roy due to the fact that Roy was unbeatable at the weight or he would have fought him and lost convincingly.Comment

Well a guy who hasnt won a title or had a significant fight up until getting a title shot and losing is not exactly close to being the best Middleweight out there.
Anyway I vote Option 3, Roy and Joe still would have never fought.Comment

Damn right.
Roy would whoop Joe's ass across the ring ALL NIGHT babyComment
-
how can you get a title.. before having a title shot?
and he lost to roy, who was the better fighter... roy left the division, and bernard dominated it for 10 years.. hence he was the best mw fighter at the time... only losing to royComment
-
I didnt say you could. I said he hadnt had a significant fight up until getting a title shot. Stop being pedantic.
Yes......so Roy beat a contender. He didnt beat the best middleweight in the world He was simply not the best MW at the time Roy beat him. Its total ignorance. If he'd rematched Hopkins years later, you'd have a point.Comment
