I think Floyd fought the better opposition and also will probably get out before he becomes a shadow of his former self in the ring, that's going to affect how Roy is remembered (out cold two fights in a row against slightly above average opposition). If Floyd unified the welterweight division there would be no question whatsoever, if he beats just another one of the top welters that would do a lot for his legacy too, but unifying welter would put him near the top all time. Roy on the other hand is fighting a finished former welterweight.

      Exactly!

Kind of like how he fought Wright, Mosley, Williams, and Margarito.

I'm sorry but I've never been impressed by floyd. Hatton was never a threat at 147 and never will be. Judah is NEVER focused, sure he beat Floyd's ass rounds 1-4 but, that's it. Baldomir and Gatti don't deserve to be in the same ring as him. Mitchell is THE definition of shot, his knees are about as useful as an inflatable paperweight or a waterproof towel. I give him props for the Corrales, Castillo, maybe Judah,Corley, and Cotto(when he mans up and fights him).

Did floyd have to put on 20 pounds of pure muscle then drop it in 4 months for a title fight?

Wright is too big for him, and was at light middle when Floyd was down at light welter so you can't blame him for that. Mosley was tied up with Wright, De La Hoya and Forrest rematches at the time when Floyd could have fought him and has recently lost to Cotto anyway, Williams has only just got to that sort of level and as for Margarito - Daniel Santos my friend, Daniel Santos.

did floyd manage his career better? Roy got greedy and it cost him, he should have actually fought the mega fights around his weight class instead of going after the worst titleholder in the heavyweight division, or could have then stayed there and unififed instead of coming back down. If he were truly a capable heavyweight he would have done that but he didn't and he didn't make the big fights at the lower weights either, those are bad moves on his part and they'll cost his legacy.

Roy had so much talent, it's gutting that he wasted it.

Floyd has beaten De La Hoya, Coralles, Castillo, Hernandez, Hatton, Judah etc etc. There really aren't many fighters that he could have fought that he didn't. Roy should have fought Calzaghe, Benn, Michalczhewski etc etc
You only said "etc etc" because that's where it ends. At the end of the day no matter who they fought in my mind Roy is/was the better fighter.

Yeah you kinda got me there. I guess he was unfortunate to be around in an era with few great fighters at his weight. But my point is kinda that, really. That he had all the talent in the world but never showcased it. I agree that he was a better fighter than Floyd but I feel Floyd has done more in the ring. ****, I could be a great fighter but we'll never know cos I never properly laced em up.

He could have fought Margarito but didn't and now he's avoiding Cotto. I really like Floyd but sometimes he pisses me off. When it comes to natural ability and skill he is nowhere near Roy. Very Very good don't get me wrong but RJJ was in a completely different league in his prime compared to any fighter of the past 15 years
