Sultan came into that fight about 10 lbs overweight. He's a better fighter than he showed that night.

Yes he is better than that but the fight still shows that he isn't much.

Sultan's greatest victories are against boxers who didn't throw punches at him Briggs (old, asthmatic and ill) and Holyfield (OLD) and Sultan still couldn't put them out.

His WBO title doesn't mean anything. Wladimir is Sultan's greatest test and I expect he will be knocked out quickly in a one-sided fight.

If Sultan puts up a fight and goes down swinging I will give him respect.

Ray Austin hadn't lost a fight in five years before he fought Wlad. He's isn't a great heavyweight, but a lot better than some people have made him out to be since the fight! Look back at an old thread with a poll before the fight - some of the regulars here were even picking Austin to win!

This was actually a very impressive win by Wlad over a strong fighter! That Wlad stopped the big man without having to use his right was rather amazing...

No, Wladimir himself said that the fight was a disgrace. Austin might be decent at his level (which is D at best) but Klitschko is the top heavyweight and only wants to fight top 10 ranked HW's.

The only reason he fought Austin was because IBF made him a mandatory due to the draw against Sultan.
Austin had draws with Lance Whitaker, Larry Donald and Zuri f'in Lawrence. He also won split decisions against OWEN BECK and SEDRECK 'journeyman' FIELDS.

Klitschko's 2008 fights should be against Sultan, Chagaev and Peter.

Wlad never said "the fight was a disgrace", you're making that up.

Wlad has always been willing to fight anyone! The problem has been, some people have not been willing to fight him.

"Actually, I didn't expect that it was going to be as easy as it was," Klitschko confided after the sudden victory. "It was easy because Austin was much, much slower than my sparring partners. He was very sharp with his critiques regarding my balls, my chin and my stamina and also my heart. But I think the best answer [was] I keep my mouth shut and I fight."
"I didn't chose this opponent, it was a mandatory title defense. I have to fight Ray Austin. I'm looking forward to unifying the titles. It doesn't matter who is next."
              Wladimir's opinion about the fight.

I remember Wlad said all that, but I don't see the word "disgrace" anywhere...

                Were you making that up?

Austin didn't belong in the same ring as Wlad. It was a mis-mandatory.

Umm Wlad said Austin was slower than his sparring partners and that he couldn't help but to fight Ray because Austin was a mandatory. Fights like that disgrace boxing, they happen just to get some money off the fans pockets and keep the top fighters from fighting each other.

My point was that the fight was a mis-match and Austin didn't belong in the same ring and Wladimir feels the same way.

Let's not make Austin anything more than he is, a club fighter.

Austin was actually a fringe contender, about the same level as Larry Donald. He was not a legit contender, and was kind of a waste of time (several month's of Wlad's prime).

Still, the way Wlad took him out without using his right was very impressive!
