I said serious pro. He took a 16 month hiatus from his first fight at 175 and came back at 160.

Hopkins won the title 2 years after the Roy Jones fight and after actively defending his title became a better fighter than he had been before.

I'd say Hopkins was at his best after the Glen Johnson fight in the 1997 where he looked absolutely fantastic and started diminishing after the Joppy fight in 2003. He is still very good though but barely throws punches any more.

Yeah Hopkins is just a name now, a bit like De La Hoya, great fighters in the past, but put them against someone who is still in their prime, or close to it, and they will get found out.

Jones would have beat Joe or anyone under 175 in his day, simple as that, end of thread and this is coming from someone who actually likes Joe, who picked him against Kessler, is picking him against Head-Hop and has been watching his fights for years on top of years, so many I can't even remember, Joe would never have phased Roy in that time, now? yes, then? HELL NO, Benn and McClellan neither, don't get it twisted Roy was a phenom and you can argue and debate all you want but **** changes when you have such a fast and accurate puncher/boxer in front of you, NOBODY of that time could have prepared Gerald, Nigel or Joe for something no other opponent was capable of, I respect them all but Roy was in a league of his own, he was consumed by his own ability and believed he was the best, it wasn't until age 35 where he even was phased and this was after going up to and winning the Heavyweight title.. now, Joe would beat him and I wont say KO either but back then? Roy beats Joe in a good fight. 100

Roy was being outboxed by Montell Griffin in their 1st fight untill the knockdown he was behind in that fight & looking rather bemused by what Griffin was doing to him

You cant be serious, Benn got stopped by Watson and Eubank, he cant handle Roy Jones.

Benn was a lot better fighter post Eubank & Watson he learned a lot from those fights & IMO beat Eubank in the 2nd fight

I would favour Jones in this fight however unlike yourself i do not think it is gosepel that Jones beats Benn

it is ridiculous how people seem to think Roy didnt needed to fight Collins,Benn ,Eubank ,Darius, Nunn ,Hopkins & Toney again because he was the best fighter in the world ,so he dont even have to share a ring with these fighters cause it is dead cert that Roy would have beaten all

should i remind the RJJ nuthuggers that he was outboxed by Montell Griffin
& i dare say nobody expected Griffin to be outboxing him & Griffin didnt have lightening speed

and u can make all the excuses u want for Roy but there is no reason why he should nt have faced people like Nunn yet he found the time to beat the likes of Frazier ,kelly ,hall, telesco, lucas LMFAO

                      Get ****ing real pal.
He NEVER won the HW Championship of the world.
At the time he beat John Ruiz in a Heavyweight contest the Heavyweight Champion at the time was LENNOX LEWIS.
Roy Jones won a Belt but he was NEVER the Heavyweight Champ.
He would have beendestroyed by most othe HW's of the time as well.
Fortunately for him he had the boring slow hug-a-dub-dub man Ruiz active and holding a belt.
