Watching UFC 75 leads me to believe...

That MMA Fighters don't spend too much time on their boxing game.
Liddell was throwing a bunch of wide looping punches, as well was Silva, and they didn't even very them. There were a few occasions where I spotted the opportunity for Liddell to sneak in an uppercut and knock Silva out. Rather then duck and slip punches they put their arm in the way and peary a shot or simply not block it at all and keep swinging freely. I have noticed that Quinton Jackson has some hand skills, maybe the reason why he running the ***** right now? I dunno, but from what I've seen he is all around good and that counter right to that weak ass body shot Liddell threw at him was well executed.

Anyway, Maybe this is why Boxing and UFC is so apples and oranges?
While Boxers have great hand to hand skills, UFC fighters are experts on the floor.. A territory few Boxers have been in inside a ring before. But most UFC fighters lack the stand up skills a boxer has.

I seriously doubt that if it was a fist fight with no wrestling involved, with the same UFC gloves, Boxers would get dealt though like many claim they would.
That's their ace in the hole when it comes to their sport and this (boxing) is ours when it comes to our sport.

Anyway, watching the fight with a bunch of UFC fans and MMA fans after they were all pumped and exited talking about how great of a fight it had been and I was left scratching my head... the fight was so short to me and the action not even that great. I've tried to get into it but I simply just can't.
I find Pride more entertaining though dunno why.. but for now, I think I would rather just stick to watching boxing.

Quinton has lousy boxing skills also but he is very well-versed in all other areas. He was actually a good kickboxer so people are scared to kick with him because he has skills in that area also. Only lately has he really worked on his hands.

I mean, dude he threw a right hook from and orthodox stance.

This guy aint a very good boxer.

Lidell trains his boxing quite a bit I heard. He did look slow, Silvia kept decent techniue throughout I thought.

I've only seen Jackson vs. Liddell and this one other guy, who I forget his name so I could be wrong. I was taking what I said mostly of the Liddell fight though.

Honestly I checked out the fight on youtube, and I was seriously bored. It didn't entertain me in the slighest, and I hear people saying that it was the best ever UFC fight. I know I'm missing nothing now.

              hehe yeah.

Skills, drama, tension, characters - Boxing's got the up on all of these.

              UFC fights are just frustrating...

well thats why its called mma not boxing, you cant just go in there like a boxer, and while those looping shots may look sloppy thats the way they have to throw because they have to worry about take downs and all that stuff.

I think that's the most intelligent post in the thread.

Different sport different game. Don't expect a diver to run as fast as sprinters. I understand people have different taste but thread like doesn't bring anythign but hate.

I tell it like it is. Your saying that boxing technique doesn't work in real fighting which is completely untrue. Taking words from Joe Rogan who thinks UFC is the sport of fighting, yet the same punches you use with gloves can be used without them and are as or even more effective. How is a wide looping punch more effective then a clean short and straight one? How is throwing the same thing over and over repeatedly more effective then throwing a variety of punches?
