The answer is obvious, they will say Hopkins was old, took it for the money and so on.

I have no beef with the Jeff Lacy win, but I do think beating Hopkins will be a double-edged sword for whoever does it.

He is good until he loses, when he becomes ANCIENT.

        -Lacy
        -Mario Veit
        -Mitchell
        -Brewer
-woodhall (ok well past his prime)
        -Reid
        -eubank

And people who believe calzaghe should not enter the HALL OFF FAME are fools he is the most dominate supermiddleweight off all times and future super middleweights years from now will be judged by Calzaghes career luv it or hate it

am not talking about who has the best names on their list if it was like tht WINKY would be P4P number1 am talking about now and i rate calzaghe P4P number 3 because i dont see anyone in the supermiddleweight light heavy ,middleweight divs beating him hopkins would have but at 43 i dont think so, taylors got no chance, winkys to small, Pavliks got the power but could he last with calzaghes speed? maybe.

LMAO...thats like saying Lebron James is th greatest NBA player of all time.

Hes only been playing 3 years.

And SMW(168) has only been around since 1984.

Should bika be added to that list? I heard bika was robbed in his fight against soliman. So bikas only real losses on his record are calzaghe and bute. Bika did just beat Codrington and Codrington is fairly decent.

              • I honestly don't think Calzaghe is overrated. He's an undefeated champion who ran his division for years- but got no credit. None. America forgot he existed until he had his exhibition against Lacy. If anyone is riding him too hard I think it's because the media is trying to play catch-up by rating him super highly now that he's forced them to take notice. Sure, he had a less than stellar showing against Bika...but the Manfredo fight, while adding nothing to his legacy, surely couldn't have hurt in American's eyes....and then we had a good, solid performance in the Kessler fight.

Overall, I think people are just deciding to pretend they knew he was good this entire time and are trying to compensate for ignoring most of his career.

Calzaghe can fight, and he can beat hopkins, but somehow managed to miss out fighting just about every legendary fighter in and around his weight class, he should have chased jones to 175 years ago, he would have made proper money, instead he drains himself to 168 fighting nobodies for the majority of his career, where's the sense in that?
