Calzaghe is the best.

Calzaghe has:

1. Cleaned out SMW.

The division has always been shallow and has only been in existence since 1988. It's never been a stomping ground for the greatest fighters more like a gateway for them to move up/down in weight for the bigger fights against the bigger opponents North and South of the division.

2. Been Dominant for 10 years.

Right, in a mediocre at best division.

3. Beaten Eubank

Eubank was definitely past his prime, and by no means the same fighter that would have given Calzaghe problems. Also he's yet another example of a guy who sat in the division.......that's not a + when it comes to rating a guy on a P4P basis.

4. Beaten Lacy

Right a relatively new young champion with an exciting style. By no means a top rated P4P fighter.

5. Beaten Kessler

Yeah a solid fighter but then again not a top 10 P4P fighter. The theme here is having to beat the best of the best fighters in order to be considered P4P best.

6. A 72% KO Ratio

There are Columbian fighters with 90 % K.O. ratios who have made their mark by knocking out cabbies and plumbers.

7. Beat other solid fighters such as Bika, Veit, Reid

Bika is extremely limited and I wouldn't call Veit a class fighter. It's not a good idea to mention Reid when many observers though that he won the fight and he should have been awarded the decision. His counter right hand was landing at will and he might have the closest claim to beating Calzaghe that anyone has ever faced. And even at that..........I wouldn't consider Reid a class fighter either. He was blown out by Lacy and when he made his little stint on the Contender.

8. Unified the WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF belts.

You can pretty much just point to the "cleaned up the SMW" division. Because that's exactly what he did.

I don't think many posters on here have seen anymore than 2-3 Calzaghe fights at best. So please don't tell me that his opponents were junk because most of the people who are giving opinions about Calzaghe haven't watched the best part of his career when he was much younger knocking the **** out of everyone. Most of the people on here just youtube search most of his fights. I don't give opinions on fighters I haven't seen much of and I don't engage in arguements over whether they are overrated or not so I ask you to do the same.Whoever started this topic must watch at least 10 Calzaghe fights before coming out with this conclusion imo.

Calzaghe is way overrated. He has yet to beat an elite boxer. How is he rated in the top 2 or 3 p4p? What has he done? I mean if he is so good, why hasn't he fought a great fighter. Kessler is the best he's fought and Kessler is barely an above average boxer. I'm not saying that Calzaghe is bad, but one of the best p4p? I don't think he belongs in the top 10 even. If he gets into the ring with Hopkins, Pavlik, Taylor, or Wright and beats either one of them, than he belongs, otherwise, he is way too overrated.

joe calzaghe has beat the fighters in front of him.........those guys you mentioned havent gone over seas to fight, and cal hasnt come here to fight.........all you have to do is look at thwo cal has beaten.........and you know that he can not only fighter............he definitely belongs in the top 10 pfp........i have him in my top 5.......cal can beat hop, wink, pav and taylor........leave taylor and wink out of this, they cant beat hop.........pavlik cant either......but cal is moving up, so that fight wont happen.......hop has the best chance of beating cal........and im going with cal...........
