140 was dry at that time and he was being ranked with his body of work at 135.The trouble with fighting the number one contender is that they're usually not the number one contender once they've been beaten.
really .. not at all. again Castillo was only ranked #1 by The Ring.
and your forgetting the Ngoudjo bout .. its that bout that wrote Castillo of as a joke being ranked #1
you can go on and on how The Ring had Castillo ranked #1. hell say it till you go blue in the face
but that ranking is NOT justified. and it has nothing to do with Castillo's loss to Hatton which you are implying.
look at it like this Piggy.
Would Hatton with two 147 bouts under his belt be recognized as a top 10 Welterweight? **** no
so why should Castillo be ranked #1 by the Ring when he's had zero fights as a 140 pounder? it makes no ****ing sense
It's The Ring, a magazine publication. For the most part they have unbiased rankings.
It's not the WBA, IBF, WBC, etc which are corrupt and do their rankings extremely biased.Comment

uh .. hmm lemme see if this makes sense .. Since Hatton moved back down to 140 .. like you said the division was dry
so since all Hatton held as belts were the Ring title and IBO
why wouldn't the Ring rank Castillo in the top 10 140 since a Hatton/Castillo bout was being talked about
and all Castillo being ranked #1 benefits is the Ring really and no one else
because therefor if Castillo is Ranked by the Ring & fighting for the Ring belt .. well it makes senseComment

How does it favour The Ring? It's not like the fighters are paying sanctioning fees to hold the belt.
The Ring belt is a belt where the best fighter from each division usually gets it.
Tarver was the best fighter at LHW a few years back and he never even had a title, or he had the ****ty IBO or something. He still had the ring belt because of his win over Jones.
Don't they also go over a linear basis?Comment

I didn't change the subject. You asked how Castillo could be rated at Jr Welterweight after one fight (Castillo had two wins at 140 before Hatton but let's not let the truth get in the way of a good story) and I pointed out that Floyd was ranked as number one contender at Welterweight before he even fought Sharmba Mitchell. It often happens that the number one guy in a weight class becomes top ten rated when he moves up in weight, it wasn't just Castillo who was considered number one contender in their new weight without them having to fight there.
We were talking about Castillo, not Hatton (who was ranked at Welterweight both before and after his fight with Collazo, a fight he won). Keep up, son.Floyd Mayweather didn't look like crap or get a gift decision win in his first fight at 147, and he certainly didn't get ktfo in his second either.Comment

how does it favor the Ring? simple Castillo is ranked #1 by The Ring .. Hatton the Champion. since Castillo was ranked #1 by the Ring and is going for Hatton's Ring Title ... Ring Magazine ranking Castillo #1 makes it seem like a legit match up .... see below*
"Tarver was the best fighter at LHW a few years back and he never even had a title, or he had the ****ty IBO or something. He still had the ring belt because of his win over Jones."
Yes I know Tarver didn't have any major titles.
*Below. ranking Castillo #1 sets up a Challenger vs #1 Contender match (Castillo/Hatton) ... get it?Comment
