Toney was himself against Jones. He had no answer for Roy's speed, and while we're at it. I don't think Lacy was exactly stellar against Calzaghe.

haha he's been the same 1 punch at a time throwing plodder since the opening bell of that fight and the struggles against Tsypko and Manfredo illustrate that.

Hopkins has aged well and has more ring smarts now than he did then, you could argue his prime was when he was late 30's.
So you're saying that the current version of Hopkins is better than that version? Just clarifying this...

BTW KJ- Hopkins was better than Kessler.. come on, man.. And I don't even like Hopkins!

Lets get back to Calzaghe - Pacquiao, Ok, It was my fault for changing it but I thought Jones hasn't fought THAT much greater opponents than Joe. Be hounest, it isn't Joe's fault either,he never had the drawing power to get big names like Jones and Hopkins to fight him and when he had a good chance his brittle hands gave way. On the other hand Jones could of fought Benn, Collins or Hopkins in a rematch but chose not to give them a bigger share of the money. Jones being from America always had a better chance than Calzaghe to get the bigger names.

True ****. I thought I was alone with the idea that James Toney didn't look any different or particualrly weight drained against Jones than he did in any of the other 44 wins. That excuse would have been valid if Toney hadn't been such an active champion. He was always dropping weight.

I think he was in his physical prime but the lack of the experience probably made it easier for Jones. I think Hopkins prime came somewhere in between his loss to Jones and his current state today.

Lol, you started the whole conversation with the question 'Who has Jones fought again?'.. So for you to say that his comp is better than Joe's is to diss Joe even worse.

He won a belt in the next year. His prime started 12 months after losing to Jones?

No, I just think Roy could of fought far more people than he made out where as Joe could only have fought limited fighters with their drawing powers. For a fighter who is often compared to Leonard and Robinson his resume isn't that great.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand if we may?

Kessler won multiple belts and beat multiple champs. Do you really think the Hopkins Jones fought is as good as today's Kessler? Wait and see what Kessler does next. The man is real.

But this it irrelevant. Calz is not as good as JOnes was
