Good balance post at the start of the thread.

Kelly Pavlik is a great fighter, obviously the best middleweight at the moment. His strength is his power, heart, determination etc etc. But when deciding who will give him trouble etc etc. To me its pretty obvious. I would favour Calzaghe to score a wide UD over Kelly. Kelly is a great boxer, but lets be honest Calzaghe is king of these middle divisions. Kessler, im favouring him to beat Kelly, possibly by a late stoppage, but i think it would be a close UD.

The problem is, the super middle weight division is a lot stronger than the middleweight division. But i still agree with your post that Kelly beats nearly all except for Joe C and Kessler.

The other fighter that i think could score a UD over Kelly is Anthony Mundine. Hes under rated. Hes got speed which will trouble Kelly and not just a little bit but his jab is seriously lightning. And his defence, well i rate it as the best in these middle divisions. He rolls his shoulder well and is really hard to tag. But then again the Anthony Mundine that fights bums could turn up. Or he could go into his shell, as he did after round 4 against Kessler, and not be agressive, as he did in that fight which led him to loose. Kelly is the favourite against him, but this is a seriously dangerous fight for him.

By saying Joe C, Kessler and maybe Mundine beat Kelly is nothing bad about Kelly. Kelly is a great fighter, but stylistically even great fighters can be undone by other good fighters, where ones technique exposes a weakness in the other. Kelly has minimal weaknesses, and is a great middleweight champion. Thats why i give him a win over the rest of the field, including Bute.
