Margarito has made his name, not in the ring, but in the press releases where he tries to goad Floyd Mayweather Jr, who would be making pennies on the dollar to fight Margarito.

In the ring, I don't think Margarito deserves a shot at Mayweather because he's been unsuccessful in recent bouts of significance. Paul Williams, himself undefeated, flooded Margarito out of some organization belt. Daniel Santos, hardly a world beater, proved that if you don't run from Margarito, he's only as tough as you allow him to be.

The only athlete who made more money than Floyd Mayweather Jr this year was Tiger Woods. I'm not sure where Margarito ranks on that list, but he's not on that tier.

For Floyd to sell PPVs and justify his big paychecks, he needs an opponent who sells PPVs, like Hatton and ODLH. Margarito's only PPV experience was a bomb, with ******* Gomez. Compare the numbers of Mayweather's recent 2 mill worldide sales PPV and Margarito doesn't have the right gloves to play ball.

Ricky Hatton brought 33,000 fans to Las Vegas for their fight. Margarito would bring you, Xcaret, and his family. It's ****ed up, but I believe you need to earn your way to fighting the big boys instead of just freezing out the clock and hoping that your turn comes.
then why did he fight Baldomir if it was all about the PPV numbers?

The only people who hype Margarito are the Floyd haters. He had his chance to prove himself against P Williams & got his ass kicked. There is nothing special about a guy with 5 losses & not 1 victory over a top guy (Cintron doesnt count for anything). 25 years from now we will still be talking about the great Floyd Mayweather. These same type of haters hated on Pernell Whitaker, Ray Leonard, Ali, etc; Any real fan knows Margaritos career is nothing above average.

That was about proving himself the champion at 147 pounds, which was what Carlos Baldomir was considered by every boxing publication. Antonio Margarito was the champion of something called the WBO, which when around the waist of someone who isn't The Ring champion is good for holding up your pants.

No, it was probably the lineal championship... not to mention a win over a familiar name (who was in the P4P rankings at the time Baldomir beat him).

Or maybe it was the PPV numbers.

            PLAIN AND SIMPLE COMMON SENSE.

              Margarito vs Gomez = 25K PPV's

              Mayweather vs Baldomir = 350+ PPV's

Baldomir = wins over Judah and Gatti + Undisputed linear welterweight champion

Margarito = Paper belt, fought bums.

Without a doubt I will say that NO ONE WOULD HAVE EVER known Antonio Margarito if he had'nt mentioned Floyd's name.

Marg's been calling Mayweather out before Baldmoir was champ. Marg was ranked 1 contender by The Ring and had a title, even if it is the WBO.
I mean I think the guy is hella over rated and am not a fan of his but at the time when he was calling for the fight there wasn't really a better opponent out there for Mayweather and the money was right. If thats not ducking then I dunno what is.

How can you be the most feared fighter in the world when you haven't beaten anyone?
Hmm maybe cause they REFUSED to fight him? you cant real kid, seriously I expected more from you.

WOW! You mean he called him out before Baldomir was champ? JESUS CHRIST! STOP THE PRESSES!

Wait... Floyd was planning on fighting Zab Judah then now wasn't he? I think he had the lineal championship, or something like that.

And how much did Baldomir do in PPV's again... oh thats right, Baldomir had never been on a PPV Pre-Mayweather.

                      Your biased is showing.
