Is This the Worst Heavyweight Era Ever?

It's surely one of the worst ever when you've got guys as weak as Sam Peter, Oleg Maskaev, and Sultain Ibragimov being top contenders/titleholders.

    Which era was worse?

Maybe the early 80s. That was pretty sucky too when you had Leon Spinks being considered a top contender.

This era is stronger than Holmes and Tyson's era. The HW division is fine and Wlad is gonna unify the titles and become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world.

        It sucks.

Sam Peter, Sultan Ibragimov and Oleg Maskaev are considered top heavyweights. Just a little while ago, Shannon Briggs was considered a top heavyweight. That shows you how crappy it is.

Tim Witherspoon was better than all of today's heavyweights except with the possible exception of Wlad.

And Wlad won't fully unify. Not because he is not good enough (he is a real fighter unlike his ****ty brother), but because the organizations will find a way to strip him as soon as he wins a unification bout.

This era isn't that great. I thought with the influx of the Former Soviet Union countries that this would be a good era, but it is not. Wlad is a very good fighter, but I'm still waiting on the rest.

And I don't want to hear about how Soviet Fighters would have ruled if it weren’t for them not being allowed because I recall a certain 19-year-old amateur, with little experience in boxing, whooping a veteran Russian's ass for a Gold Medal.

How do you think Cubans like Savon and Stevenson would have done in the pros?

Which is why Wlad needs to stand up and throw his belt in the trash and tell the rest to do the same.

Ruslan Chagaev beatdown Felix Savon in the amatuers, he is a very good underrated fighter, I'd say he is the biggest threat to Wlad right now.

I just found the article I read a while back.

People used to post their fights on another boxing site, but they are not there anymore, so that sucks for anybody that didn't get to see them fight.

To answer the question, part of it is in the article. I think the Russians and the Cubans, if they turned pro, could have made boxing more competitive, but by no means do I think they would dominate like some may say, that is b.s.

They also turned down millions to fight pro. Sure, their excuse was that pro boxing is corrupt and they fight for their people. But, did they ever look at their own country?
Corruption is World-wide...it's a human thing.

If they fought pro and won, what millions of dollars could do for the many in their own country...fight for them, feed them with your winnings, build schools.

It would be interesting to see how many stood up to Castro as well and what happen to the ones that did.
